Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1561264, so is being marked as such.
Upgraded the following packages:
gvfs (1.28.2-1ubuntu1~16.04.1) to 1.28.2-1ubuntu1~16.04.2
Plus 6 dependents
This fixes the problem on Ubuntu-MATE 16.04.
Tested on MATE 1.12.1 an original install.
Tested on MATE 1.16.2 (Martin's PPA)
Bravo!

I am having the same issue. I thought it might be an extension, but I
disabled all extensions and it still isn't working. I also checked both
`gsettings set org.gnome.shell.overrides edge-tiling` and `gsettings set
org.gnome.metacity.edge-tiling`; both are set to `True`.

After disabling all extensions AND restarting, edge tiling is back. I'm
going to infer that it is an extension causing the issue.
Unfortunately, it will take a number of restarts to isolate.
