[Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive
Unfortunately, that's what many people say when they log a bug. And unfortunately you do seem to be the first/only person reporting this problem, for now. Although that doesn't imply your machine is the only one affected. It's always possible you have the honour of just being the most observant person to notice and report the problem first... Here are the steps: 1. Download http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.16-rc5 /linux-headers-4.16.0-041600rc5_4.16.0-041600rc5.201803112130_all.deb 2. In a terminal, install them all at once: sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb 5. Reboot. 6. I can't find any reports of this crash on errors.ubuntu.com so it's not very common. Although we have 3 duplicate bugs here... [Bug 1756205] [NEW] Can't input Chinese characters in daily built
Public bug reported: OS: Ubuntu 18.04 Daily Built 2018-03-08. As reported in the Ubuntu Chinese forum (in Chinese): http://forum.ubuntu.com.cn/viewtopic.php?f=49=486823 users cannot input Chinese characters. It appears the daily built uses sunpinyin as the default Chinese input method. But sunpinyin is not included in the iso. Sunpinyin has not been maintained for at least a couple of years; several problems have been reported associated therewith but remain unsolved, and it doesn't appear that the problems will be solved any time soon. Ibus-libpinyin has been working very smoothly inside Bionic. Its frequency table regarding single words can be improved, but it works very well for phrases. I suggest we change the default Chinese input method from sunpinyin to libpinyin (i.e., intelligent pinyin). This is an urgent matter. ** Affects: ibus-libpinyin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to ibus-libpinyin in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756205 Title: Can't input Chinese characters in daily built To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus-libpinyin/+bug/1756205/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1751892] [NEW] Unable to set different Scale on different Monitors
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My laptop screen is 3840x2160 while my external monitor is only 1680x1050. In order for the laptop monitor to be usable I have the scaling set at 200 (this works wonderful). However, when I plug in my external monitor it is scaled up to 200% as well making it unusable. Attempting to scale one to 100 and the other 200 looks to be possible; however, the Apply button keeps appearing and disappearing randomly with no actual effect. It looks like practically you can only set one scale for both monitors even though the UI looks to be letting you do it. I have tried this on Wayland and Xorg with similar results. [Bug 1756172] [NEW] gdm doesnt recognise smartcard when first inserted
Public bug reported: We set the following in /etc/gdm3/greeter.dconf-defaults [org/gnome/login-screen] enable-smartcard-authentication=true enable-fingerprint-authentication=false enable-password-authentication=false and restarted gdm. GDM says "Please insert your SmartCard or enter your usernname". When the user inserts their smartcard to login nothing happens. We expect for SmartCard authentication to start but it does not. If the cancel button is pressed then GDM looks at the card, starts the authentication process and prompts for the card PIN. The user logs in successfully. We can teach our users to hit the cancel button but that seems like a bug. Other version of GDM (eg under RHEL) recognise when a SmartCard is inserted. [Bug 1755982] Re: Cannot go beyond 100% sound level anymore in GNOME session
The over-amplification setting is an Ubuntu-specific patch. Although collaborated on with GNOME Design, it doesn't look like GNOME is interested in it at this time. In order to try to keep the vanilla GNOME session close to upstream, Ubuntu's patch only affects the Ubuntu session. (The slider does go past 100% in the Ubuntu session.) [Bug 1755982] Re: Cannot go beyond 100% sound level anymore in GNOME session
There is a toggle switch in GNOME Tweaks but that toggle isn't exposed in Ubuntu because 1) It duplicates the functionality already in the GNOME Settings app on Ubuntu 2) The Ubuntu feature still uses a different gsettings key, in part because there are still patches for this feature that GNOME hasn't reviewed yet (for gnome-shell in particular). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755982 Title: Cannot go beyond 100% sound level anymore in GNOME session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1755982/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1745440] Re: "Apply" button is missing from Displays
I have the same issue while using Ubuntu 17.10, gnome-control-center 3.26.2 I'm attempting to have my laptop monitor (HP Spectrum 4k monitor) with scale at 200% which works correctly. And then scale my external monitors to 100%. I have two dell 1080p monitors. When I attempt to change my external monitors to 100% the apply button doesn't show. If I change the primary display from the current setting of 200% to 100% the apply button doesn't show. If I then change it back to 200% it does show. My bigger issue is I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to do this through the CLI instead. Everything I see does not have a per monitor granularity.
