[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2018-08-22 Thread Fabio Chino
Update: I tested on Wayland and the problem persists.

I also discovered that, if I move the mouse and wait at least 1 second
before I press the button, the click is always computed. Just in case, I
also monitored the processor load and the issue happens even when the
processor is idle.

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2018-08-22 Thread Fabio Chino
Until I performed the last update on 2018-08-16, I was not experiencing
this issue. Now I started to experience random mouse clicks misses with
no apparent pattern, making the usage very annoying but not impossible.

Usually I misses the first clicks right after I move the mouse to the
desired position. Usually the first few clicks after I stop moving are
ignored but if I insist pressing it, it is eventually computed. The
mouse over events are working properly because links on the browser and
button highlights change as expected so it appears that only the clicks
are affected.

The problem always happens when I switch applications using the mouse
(the first click never works). The same happens when I activate a
context menu.

The only relevant package installed that day was linux-
modules-4.15.0-32-generic but a few days earlier, gdm3 was also
upgraded.

I'm using bionic X64 with XOrg using RX480 with amdgpu-pro drivers and
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz.

[Bug 1780076] Re: 18.04 login screen is skewed/distorted (incorrect stride) when using hibmc_drm graphics

2018-08-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes, the patch in comment #7 is only a workaround but that might be as
good as it gets while no developer ever has access to the hardware.

Please reformat the gdm3 patch with more details about what's being
fixed, and then:

1. Attach a patch for Ubuntu 18.10, and subscribe 'ubuntu-sponsors'.

2. When the fix (workaround) has been released to 18.10 then we can
start on the SRU process to get the fix into 18.04
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure).

2018-08-22 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
Julian, thanks for the detailed comment.

I assume that the only way to somewhat work around this problem is to
change the recommendation orders:

lightdm: recommend lightdm-gtk-greeter | unity-greeter | ...
xfce4-session: recommend light-locker | xscreensaver

This may cause trouble and unexpected behavior for non Xubuntu users
though.

[Bug 1633522] Re: gnome-control-center is missing items when run from the top ribbon in Xfce

2018-08-22 Thread Jeremy Bicha
GNOME Control Center needs to be run with GNOME since it depends on
various gnome-settings-daemon processes to be running.

As a workaround, you can try running
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME gnome-control-center
but that isn't supported.

gnome-control-center in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was supported by the Ubuntu
GNOME project for 3 years until April 2017. Therefore, I am closing this
bug since this version is no longer supported.

[Bug 1780076] Re: 18.04 login screen is skewed/distorted (incorrect stride) when using hibmc_drm graphics

2018-08-22 Thread Bin Li
@Daniel,

Now this issue in my side is not related to
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/160, I've updated
the latest mutter(3.28.3-2~ubuntu18.04.1), this issue is still exist,
and I tried to make it with small patch, but I'm failed.

So could we used the patch in comment #7?

Now I just found the gdm3 was updated to 3.28.3-0ubuntu18.04.1, the previous
patch also need be changed.
And I found the gdm-disable-wayland binary is missed, so I report an issue for
it.

[Bug 1788374] [NEW] Update to 2.19

Public bug reported:

The version >= 2.17 require ndctl which is in Debian NEW for a while,

It's not likely that we update for cosmic at this point since we would
need the new library, a MIR and then a libblockdev update

Also having this issue on a fresh install of 18.04.01, `sudo kbd_mode

[Bug 1788364] [NEW] Terminal not working on Ubuntu 18.04

2018-08-22 Thread Luís de Sousa
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 18.04 the terminal stops functioning after a few hours of
work. In a fresh session the terminal works as expected, but after some
time it becomes slow and finally unresponsive. After that, every time a
new terminal window is launched it is greyed out and must be forcibly
terminated. No keyboard input is ever shown in the terminal window.
Things go back to normal if the DE session is restarted.

Thank you.

[Bug 1788359] [NEW] Theme parsing errors on Kubuntu 18.04

2018-08-22 Thread andrearuggirello

After upgrading to Kubuntu 18.04 from 16.04.5 LTS I get the following

I don't think this is in any way related to the KDE Plasma desktop
though; looks like a number of deprecations resulting from a Gtk version
bump.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

[Bug 1774957] Re: Network icons in status menu disappearing

2018-08-22 Thread Lukas Haubaum
I could hot-fix this problem by changing network configuration via nm-
connection-editor. In my case the "Connection priority for auto-
activation" was set to -999 for one Ethernet configuration. After
changing it to 0 and reconnect, the icons re-appeared. So it is maybe an
issue of malformed/weird configuration.

[Bug 1788345] [NEW] ubuntu-session not a dependency of unity

2018-08-22 Thread bhs
Public bug reported:

Assuming lightdm preinstalled in the system, Installing unity does not
enable using ubuntu unity desktop.

To get things working, package ubuntu-session needs to be separately
installed.

To improve installation experience, best to make ubuntu-session a
dependency of unity package because there are no other valid
combinations like lxsession & unity.
