[Bug 1885552] Re: gnome shell crashes if screen is locked
I suggest you start by removing these extensions as we find extensions cause a lot of bugs: 'dash-to-pa...@jderose9.github.com', 'walkpa...@walkpaper.blinkbp.github.com', 'system- moni...@paradoxxx.zero.gmail.com', 'clipboard-indica...@tudmotu.com', 'appindicatorsupp...@rgcjonas.gmail.com', 'openweather- extens...@jenslody.de', 'workspace-indicator@gnome-shell- extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'binance_ticker_moni...@jiraiya279.gmail.com', 'sto...@infinicode.de', 'dynamic-panel-transpare...@rockon999.github.io', 'panel- o...@berend.de.schouwer.gmail.com' If the problem still happens without extensions then please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885552 Title: gnome shell crashes if screen is locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1885552/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1885447] [NEW] Files do no recognize a Lets Encrypt SSH certificate
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I tried to find any references for this question, but I could not find anything close to the issue. I have a WebDAV server using a Letsencrypt certificate. When I access it through any browser (Chrome, Firefox), the certificate is valid an all goes well. It also works from the default Mac OS file browser. Windows is a no go, as it never worked from the get-go due to a "feature" on its WebDAV client, and a non-issue for us. However, when I try to use the default Files app from Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, and 20.04 to connect to that server through the +Other Locations option (Dave://domain.com/share), it says the certificate authority is not known. Is this done on purpose (I mean not including the Letencrypt CA by default) Or just a mishappening somewhere? [Bug 1885313] Re: evince crashes when opening rfc8798.pdf
The problem may be related to how exactly an XML file is embedded inside the RFC PDF documents. See https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/tools-discuss/12Efvwr7KXrgjVTWpaR4pa2hv-U . Removing the embedded file with 'pdftk rfc8798.pdf cat output rfc8798-no_xml.pdf' results in a PDF that evince can display. Re-adding the embedded XML file with 'pdftk rfc8798-no_xml.pdf attach_file rfc8798.xml output rfc8798-pdftk-embed.pdf' again results in a PDF that works fine with evince. Thus it is not the fact that an XML file is embedded that results in the evince crash, but rather the exact procedure used respective the specific result of document processing as done when creating a PDF rendering of an RFC for publication. This still is a bug in evince, because evince is not supposed to perform invalid memory accesses and crash. Especially since other PDF viewers (e.g., Firefox) can display the PDF without visible problems (MuPDF creates error and warning messages, but still displays the PDF correctly). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885313 Title: evince crashes when opening rfc8798.pdf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1885313/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2
This bug is still happening .. it really does render this whole package unworkable .. its equivalent to the computer not working at all. At least that way you know your data isn't being corrupted. I'm appalled at the cavalier attitude this bug is being treated...other end itus ... I agree more and more it appears to be an OS issue yet it appears when only using word .. as well as outside word. Either way some heads need to get together and fix the bug. It used to be when a critical bug like this was encountered then the part at fault was removed.. the bug fixed offline and then tested back in. It seems the modern approach is the old micorshaft approach of let the users test and fix the bug. If its NOT this then the people here should be putting pressure on those whose area it is ..reporting bugs is difficult enough without constantly being shunted around saying its somewhere else you report it .. (only to find you have to install software to prove the bug was happening .. er.. it was happening before I had to install mutter). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879968 Title: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/1879968/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1885330] Re: System unresponsive to keyboard and mouse clicks when changing screen background
In response to the last comment... 1. Run this command: gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt and attach the resulting text file here. See attached 2. Open a Terminal window and run 'top'. Now reproduce the problem again. While the problem is happening does 'top' report any process using very high CPU? All windows freeze. Only the cursor moves. "top" frozen. 3. Follow these instructions to check for crashes: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment /var/crash is empty /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id ... https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID reports that "No errors have been reported from this system" Applied work around for bug 994921 and got same results (no crash) ### Additional Information ### 1. In addition to becoming un-responsive, window also freeze ("top" stops reporting while hung, Graphic applications like performance monitor also hang/freeze). 2. The "Settings" app shows a preview, when launched, it shows the current desktop. When selecting a different background, sometimes the preview will update (but freezes before updating the desktop), and sometimes the preview will not update. 3. After reboot, timing the hang, it takes about 16 minutes to become responsive again. However, a second settings change took as little as 90 seconds. Not enough evaluation has been done to determine if other factors are contributing to the timings (during the 90 second timing, I had tcpdump running and I pinged the machine from another machine during the hang). 4. After reboot, running tcpdump during the hang, viewing with wireshark after responsiveness returns, I find that there is some normal looking network traffice, including connectivity checks outbound and normal responses received. ### ** Attachment added: "settings.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1885330/+attachment/5388157/+files/settings.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885330 Title: System unresponsive to keyboard and mouse clicks when changing screen background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1885330/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I agree with the sentiment of others in recent posts. I reported the bug upstream as well and there doesn't seem to be any interest there either. I use Linux and home and at work and I need the clipboard to be working properly. I work at a public library and have been planning on teaching intro to computers classes using Ubuntu, but I don't want to try to explain to beginners the concept of cut and paste while at the same time explaining to them why the OS I'm teaching them on can properly do it. [Bug 1885529] [NEW] Gnome "Activities" button in inconsistent location
Public bug reported: I have the Gnome "Places Status Indicator" extension installed. Previously the 'Places' button would always appear to the right of "Activities" However since a few weeks ago, every now and then the "Places" button appears to the left of the "Activities" button. This is bad for two reasons: * The desktop interface should be the same every time I log in. Being inconsistent and unpredictable makes for a bad user experience * I have hot corners enabled. With the "Places" button on the left, if I try to click on "Places" but put my cursor too far up and left, the hot corner activates, so it's as if I clicked the "Activities" button. [Bug 1884754] Re: Fractional scaling does not persist across reboots in resizable VM windows
Before we ask you to report the issue upstream we need to check to see if it's a downstream-only bug. Please: 1. Make sure Wayland fractional support is enabled: gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor- framebuffer', 'x11-randr-fractional-scaling']" (GUI support is coming - bug 1871864) 2. Log out. 3. Select 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen. 4. Does this bug still happen in a Wayland session? ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884754 Title: Fractional scaling does not persist across reboots in resizable VM windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1884754/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
