Could we cache the iso locally if the user had sufficient space?
Perhaps a message box saying
"Burning a disc over a network can cause problems when the network cannot keep
up with your writer. Would you like to copy the disc image to your computer
before you burn it?"
We could offer the user a
sudo apt-get install menu menu-xdg
update-menus
seems to have fixed it for me.
with the interesting side effect of giving me a debian menu with
launchers for several programs the run in terminals as well as several
that I didn't realize were installed.

Found a workaround!
I am facing the same problem. /etc/x11/xorg.conf has only 1 res specified
(1024x768), yet the GDM login screen appears at 1280x1024 since that was the
res. I initially configured Ubuntu with (ubuntu 6.06 LTS).
Used gdmsetup (or System->Administration->Login Window) to switch
the "sudo pkill gam_server" doesn't help me.
I gave up trying to sort the debug output.. it's greek to me.

I cannot note what events make the panel loop because I can't redirect
the output of the terminal to a file.

I am sorry you are still having problems, I compiled 2.6.17.1 and now
have 100% success.
Because dapper uses UDEV I plug my palm in, start jpilot, hit the sync
button on my palm then click the sync button on jpilot. I am no expert
but can you post your pilot-link output ?

Thanks for your bug report. I talked to the Debian maintainer of the
package and he doesn't want to add it. I wouldn't add it either, because
the package is about gnome and don't want to have to pull in random
parts of the stack as well. For that reason we have ubuntu-desktop, etc.

with all the same hardware and syncing worked fine to my USB visor using
pilot-link. I reinstalled the laptop with dapper drake and I'm getting

Okay, a friend of mine has this problem on a Dell Inspiron laptop
running Dapper, with totem-xine. If I remember rightly, the same problem
was appearing with MPlayer as well. We didn't try xine-ui. She did not
have the problem on the same laptop with Breezy, when she was using
xine-ui.

Unfortunately I've stopped using ubuntu due to many minor bugs that, all
together, made my laptop not usable. However I can still say that no,
restarting evolution did not put them in sync.

Thanks for your bug. The current dialog allow you to do that, you only
have to pick the image option as recorder. I'm closing that feature
request since the feature is already available

This issue is same as Bug #41335
The problem mentioned in Bug #41335 about menus and subtitles is a known one
since DVD backend is not completely ported from GStreamer 0.8 to 0.10.

The most simple test case I could find that still gives an error:
One folder containing a plain text file and a mp3 file. Using gstreamer
Using totem-xine everything works fine (did not intend to rhyme :D) and
a message pops up, telling me that it won't play text files.
Reinstalled totem-gstream
Self-compiled 2.15.4-0ubuntu1 doesn't have this bug. But this version is
not in Edgy archive.
One more thing: the close button in about dialoge doesn't works it both
versions.

I'm not sure that's a bug, some locales use ",", some other "." for
decimal separation, so it might make sense to allow "," and "." for
that, you should better take that discussion upstream
