Yes, it does not start neither from the menu nor from an xterm.
It is version 2.16.0-0ubuntu1 (happened with 2.15.92..., too).
It does not crash with an exception, it exits gracefully with a non-
zero exit code, so there is no backtrace, and I cannot gdb it.

One more thing: AFAIK gnome-terminal uses a special Terminal widget,
which is also used by e.g. by update-manager to show the work apt-get
install does during upgrades. update-manager works flawless here.
(Please correct me if this is a wrong assumption).

Yep, it seems easy to recover with Alt-Tab now (on Edgy). That's all we
need really. Several people reported it as a problem though and I did

I don't disagree w/ the fact that there's a use case for listening on
INADDR_ANY, I'm saying that it is a security hole and a security hole
that's easily fixable w/ a single gui option that can determine if it
should bind to 127.0.0.1 or INADDR_ANY and a few lines of code to handle
that option.
Same problem with 1024x768 resolution.

I think this bug is more suited to upstream attention.
Evolution still uses a GNOME about dialog instead of a GtkAboutDialog.
There is a proposal to change all GNOME applications to a new layout of

Hi Mantas. Do you have any knowledge of how GDM/gnome-session work?
For instance, why a lock file is needed (?) and where the lock file is
stored (?).
Creating a place-holder file under /tmp is not fool-proof, unless that
is the same directory where the temporary lock file (or whatever file)

I have downgraded gnome-terminal-data and gnome-terminal to
2.14.2-0ubuntu1 and the problem seems to be resolved.
