Hmm. It appears that it's not just if I boot to an older kernel. The
desktops have returned (with the right names) in any kernel
(unsurprising really).
Looks like if you upgrade to edgy you drop to two desktops, if you then
increase the number up again, then restart x it gives your desktops the

Same here. When the samba share is auto mounted in /etc/fstab, HAL fails to
initialise, the desktop is stalled for a couple of minutes. Then the desktop
appears, and the samba share gets mounted. When doing lshal immediately in a
terminal I got a message saying that HAL could not be connected to

In the en_GB locale if you have a folder with unread mail in it, then
the folder listing displays:
folder-display|foldername (num_unread)
This is almost certainly a gettext() issue where the translator didn't
remove the folder-display bit as they are required to do.

$(pidof at-spi-registryd) - don't hit enter yet, ctrl-alt-f7, login,

*For me*, the crash nearly always appears on reboot and not before.
Logging out and back in is not sufficient -- which rules out live CD
replication. All I have to do is launch Orca, quit Orca, and reboot.
I can reproduce this 100% of the time on all three of my Edgy boxes.

In this case, you need to either tell firefox to use 120 dpi, or tell it to use
