[Bug 67500] regression: zoom in/zoom out buttons no longer available

2006-10-22 Thread David Carr
Public bug reported:

In evince 0.6.1 you can no longer add the Zoom in and Zoom out
buttons to the toolbar. In Dapper all you had to do was Edit-Toolbar
and then you could drag these buttons onto the toolbar. Now these
buttons are not listed under Edit-Toolbar. I found those buttons very
useful when browsing PDFs.

I've found that this functionality still exists in evince and was able
to add these buttons by editing a config file. However thats hardly a
solution especially since this worked fine in Dapper.

To enable the buttons via config file:
Edit ~/.gnome2/evince/evince_toolbar.xml

Add the ViewZoomIn and ViewZoomOut sections as below:

 toolbar name=DefaultToolBar hidden=false editable=true
toolitem name=GoPreviousPage/
toolitem name=GoNextPage/
separator/
toolitem name=PageSelector/
separator/
toolitem name=ViewZoom/
toolitem name=ViewZoomIn/
toolitem name=ViewZoomOut/
  /toolbar

[Bug 67505] search and scrolling bug

2006-10-22 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

When searching, if you click a link you lose the scrolling position. One
of the most annoying I've come across in Epiphany.

You can watch it happen in this screencast:

-Then I middle-click the link.

[Bug 67548] LegacyHuman controls/widgets visually broken

2006-10-22 Thread michiel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork

The Ubuntu LegacyHuman controls are visually broken since I upgraded to
6.10. Is appears that someone has been changing them around, even though
they are part of a theme that claims to be exactly as the default theme
was back in 5.10. The changes break the number form arrows and the
input box corners. But generally, it seems like a bad idea to change
around things like this, since they're meant to be stable (as it is an
old theme). I'm a member of Ubuntu Artwork, but haven't noticed these
changes due to inactivity the past couple of weeks.

[Bug 66210] Re: Integrated audio occasionally gets index 0

2006-10-22 Thread PCMan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 48377 ***

Confirm this bug.

I have disabled the AC97 sound chip on my GigaByte 2004 RZ main board in
BIOS, and replace it with a Creative Vibra 128 card. Everything works
fine under MS Windows, debian, and previous versions of ubuntu, but
unfortunately, except edgy. Ubuntu edgy seems to totally omit the BIOS
settings, and load the on board AC97 as the default sound card, which is
extremely annoying. No matter what I do, ubuntuedgy recognizes the
disabled on board AC97 as default sound device, and don't use my PCI
card. This problem really drives me crazy. BTW, there is no alsaconf,
so I cannot configure the sound card manually. For short, my PCI sound
card works well before, but ubuntu edgy doesn't work in the right way.

Please, please fix this critical bug which makes our multi-media
programs disabled before releasing ubnutu edgy. Thank you very much.

[Bug 66814] Re: 100% CPU usage after a download on AMD64

2006-10-22 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Unfortunately (this some kind of Murphy on bugs) now I can't find an
easy was to reproduce the bug, however downloading various things
(mostly eg from gmail.com when mail with attachment arrives and I want
to download and save that) does that. I can't exactly know how can I
produce backtrace when no fatal signal arrives which would interrupt the
running program. So I'm attaching a backtrace now, the first one issues
after attaching the running process, the second one after some time
(after continue) when I send a STOP signal to the epiphany process.
Hope it helps, if no, please suggest some better method for me.

[Bug 54347] Numlock light on switching user is wrong

2006-10-22 Thread Bruce Cowan
Public bug reported:

If I have numlock on, and then switch user, the numlock light goes off.
When I go back to my original login, the light is still off, but numlock
is actually on. If I then press numlock again, the light will come on,
and numlock is still on.

Numlock should either stay on when switching user, or the light should
come back on when switching back to indicate the numlock state
correctly.

Sorry if the above is confusing, it's a bit difficult to describe.

2006-10-22 Thread Jochen Martin Eppler
Unfortunately there are more problems related to gconf.

When running gnome-theme-manager I get the following error:
The default theme schemas could not be found on your system.
This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or
that your gconf is configured incorrectly.

Also I have been affected by #59079 which seems to indicate some more
global gconf problems in edgy.

[Bug 67628] AlwaysLoginCurrentSession=true

2006-10-22 Thread Rui Matos
Public bug reported:

I think this option should be enabled by default on edgy. I'll try to
justify this change even this late/so close to release:

1. GNOME doesn't support the same user logging in more that once. Period.
1.1. Havoc breaks loose if people try to do it.
1.2. It might break user's configuration permanently.
1.3. People loose faith on ubuntu's stability.

2. Those who use this feature probably don't use GNOME and should thus
be considered power users who can/should read changelogs/release notes
to be aware of such changes.

3. This can be reverted when (let's have hope) GDM, gnome-session,
gnome-screensaver and gnome-power-manager get integrated as they should
be to provide the user with a seamless session experience.

Please do consider to change this option for edgy.

[Bug 66210] Re: Integrated audio occasionally gets index 0

2006-10-22 Thread Daniel T Chen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 48377 ***

Please use the asoundconf(1) python script to set your default card. It
is resistant to indices changing, which is the entire reason it was
added in Dapper.

A quick walkthrough in case you're much too busy to read asoundconf(1)'s
man page:

1) asoundconf list

returns a list of strings that denote human-friendly sound device
identifiers (it's just filtered /proc/asound/cards).

2) asoundconf set-default-card foo

where foo is one of the strings from command (1).

3) Restart your ALSA apps. You may also need to log out and back into
your graphical environment.

[Bug 30867] Re: [Dapper] nautilus shows drive labels instead of volume labels

2006-10-22 Thread Trouilliez vincent
Just installer Edgy RC, and I found that the situation has improved, a
bit, but there are still some incorrect labels.

The mount points are:

/media/Dapper_System
/media/Backup
/media/Windows
/media/Dapper_Home

The first 3 partitions show up properly in the side pane (Places
view), but in the Computer view, they are preceded by a xx.y GB
Volume: string.

The last partition (Dapper_Home) unfortunately shows up as '/home' in
the side pane, which is both confusing and incorrect.

I also have TWO icons for the floppy drive, in the Places view
(Computer view is fine)

I attached a little screenshot to summarize it all

i've been trying out Ekiga lately on my Edgy installation, and it's

that's versus about 6 seconds for X-Lite to load and register.

i'm wondering if the Evolution Data Server 1.8 shipping with Edgy has
anything to do with this. as referenced in bug 67195, GAIM was also

[Bug 67671] In edgy 6.10 beta gparted does not see all the available disks

2006-10-22 Thread Franco Fiorese
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

I have started the Edgy 6.10 beta ISO cdrom with the intention to install a
test image of the OS on my external USB disk (200GB).
After booting up, with the external USB disk powered up and connected to the
system, I started the installation program from the desktop. As soon as I have
reached the selection of the install media I decided to perform the partition
manually (having already other partitions on my external USB disk). This lead
to the start of the gparted program.
At that point I tried to select the second external disk on gparted but in the
upper right hard disk device selection widget (of gparted) only one disk was
available (the default internal one: /dev/sda).
Just to be sure that the external USB was correctly connected and available to
the system I opened up the terminal and performed a sudo fdisk -l command
and the external disk was visible with all the related partitions. As a first
attempt to understand the reason behind this behaviour I tried to see if the
problem was really due to gparted I tried to see the gparted invocation command
but I did not find anything relevant in this context.

[Bug 67675] gtali should prompt to confirm before closing

2006-10-22 Thread Mathieu ALORENT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

it would be a good thing that gTali ask to confirm before closing the
application.

Actualy, when you click on the close button, it close without
confirmation

regards
Mathieu

PS : this seem to be true for the other games of the package...

[Bug 67676] hi-score in gtali should take the name of the winner, not the connected username

2006-10-22 Thread Mathieu ALORENT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

in gTali, it would be cool if it takes the name of (the human) winner
(configured in preferences) to put it in hi-score.

Actualy, it takes the name of the connected user. It's not very usefull if you
play at 2 (human) players... As it's always the same name that is recorded.

Mathieu

[Bug 43757] Re: Bad icons issue

2006-10-22 Thread Bruno Santos
I moved to Edgy and the Cancel icon on dialongs is a cross (old gnome
icons?) with bad resolution(pixelized).

The icon for delete in Evolution makes sense now (a paper shredder), but
Cancel is incoherent with the dialogs. Should I reassign this bug on
human-icon-theme and close it here?

[Bug 66210] Re: Integrated audio occasionally gets index 0

2006-10-22 Thread Juho Lehto
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 48377 ***

The difference between Dapper and Edgy seems to be that Dapper ignores
devices disabled in BIOS but Edgy doesn't. When you disable onboard
audio device from BIOS, it should be ignored entirely, yet Edgy tries to
use it like it is enabled. I'm not a developer but this smells like a
kernel bug to me.

In addition, I believe it is largely thanks to the default lines below
# Prevent abnormal drivers from grabbing index 0 in /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base that this bug does not get much more attention.
