I often would like to move files away from my harddrive to a dvd. I have
to drag the files onto the dvd creator - burn them and the manually
remove them from the drive. It would be far nicer if I could force to

Sorry forgot something:
Now after Rebooting I experienced, that e.g. services-admin starts without
asking permissions. Then you need to run alacarte menu editor and check the
section System Administration and put gksu before these commands:
gksu gdmsetup
gksu users-admin
gksu time-admin
gksu
Instructions by Justin Dugger solved my problem. I guess some kind of
check script should be pushed as an update of some sort, to make sure
this is solved on all systems.
Not that this matters in my case, I need to completely re-install Ubuntu
because of all the upgrade issues :(

Here's a partial solution that works at least on my A6Km. Fire up your
text editor and point it at /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. Add the following
line and then reboot.
blacklist asus_acpi
For some reason the hal daemon in Edgy doesn't like this module (Asus
notebook acpi extras) on the A6 series
I believe Bill Haneman is finishing up a patch to have GOK fail more
gracefully when it encounters this problem. BTW here are some other

This is odd: Nautilus was able to copy this file initially from one
internal HD to another, without crashing at 4GB. In this case, the
source HD was NTFS and the destination was ext3.

Workaround: Divide files 4GB with 'split', then copy the pieces, then
join them again with 'cat'.
