[Bug 71511] Cannot play movie files from a network share

2006-11-14 Thread Boris Rieken
Public bug reported:

I have ubuntu 6.10 on my server and desktop. When i'm on my
desktop/laptop i cannot play for example movie files from the smb share.

I aslo have an xbox running xmbc. And it can access the smb share
perfectly. So i think it's something on the client side. Not the server
side.

Didn't have this problem with dapper.

[Bug 71762] No easy way to enable Burn Proof feature of drive

2006-11-14 Thread Nick Booker
Public bug reported:

Currently, the only way to enable the Burn Proof key in gconf is to edit the
gconf database manually using gconf-editor or gconftool.
As a result, a user may find it difficult to enable the feature, or not even
know it exists.

There should be a checkbox in the Write to Disc dialog allowing the user
to enable it, or if the UI really must hide the option, burnproof should
be enabled out of the box.

[Bug 61381] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes at login

2006-11-14 Thread Markus Olausson
gnome-settings-daemon starts if I set permissions on /etc/libnss-
ldap.conf to 644. It was, and should be, 600 becuase it contains
credentials. The lookups is done through nscd. But nscd randomly quits,
see bug #57214 and remote bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=344563 .

This also breaks gnome-screensaver(can't unlock) and kate(file protocol
dies = can't open files) and probably other things as well.

2006-11-14 Thread TiagoCruz
I'm has this problem too, and this patch has been solved my problem very

Normal users can expect this patch on dapper (downgrade nautilus 2.17.1

PS: Saying on Windows compatibility, I have this problem too:

different than the inbox are NOT archived locally, unless I put that
tick in all the folders by right clicking over all of them _one by one_
which is tiring and time consuming. Finally, I today experienced a

[Bug 71580] Re: Totem-xine crash when playing mov file

2006-11-14 Thread Ripper
I thought my distribution is written in the file attached. I have
Dapper. I tried it on another computer with Edgy, and it crashed again
(another report attached).

Maybe you don't have all codecs installed. I have all codecs from this howto:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

totem-xine does not crash immediately, it has played about 1-2 seconds
of movie and after crashed on Dapper, or played about 5 seconds on
Edgy...

I did not understand your second question, but this could be what are you
asking for:

/usr/lib/libavc1394.so.0.2.1

[Bug 71818] Window borders not always drawn properly for maximized windows

2006-11-14 Thread Hezekiah Carty
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

I am currently using Dapper and see this issue fairly often, but I think
it still exists in Edgy as well.

When maximizing a window using the Metacity window manager and a theme
with rounder corners such as the default Human Metacity theme, the top
corners are not always drawn properly - they should become square, but
sometimes they simply remain rounded.

This problem seems to occur most often when the window is already close
to the size of the display - so maximizing the window doesn't change its
shape by much. It can also occur when initially starting an
application.

A workaround is to unmaximize the window, resize it to be small compared
to the size of the screen, and then remaximize the window.

I will attach screenshots to illustrate.

[Bug 71837] Fatal error on Palm during synchronization with Evolution

2006-11-14 Thread Phil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-pilot

I actually use Edgy 6.10 on my laptop. When I try to synchronize my Sony Clie
PDA with Evolution, the PDA gives an fatal error. This is either when I use the
/dev/pilot or the dev/ttyUSB1 setting in gnome-pilot.
Parallel to this, the gnome-Pilot applet comes up on the screen several time
(sometime up to 6 times) when I press the hot-sync button on the PDA.
When I use jpilot with the same setup (dev/ttyUSB1 or dev/ttyUSB1) all works
fine but unfortunately, jpilot does not synchronize with evolution.

Thought I would add myself to the list as well. The keyring does not
seem to save any samba passwords. I am running 6.10 with gnome 2.16.1.
And it when I try to connect to a samba share it sometimes takes a good
20-30 seconds before the samba password box even comes up, whether this
is related I am not sure, as it all worked fine on Dapper.

[Bug 71878] Sudden crash while saving jpg

2006-11-14 Thread Duncan Lithgow
Public bug reported:

I was editing away nicely, learning keyboard shortcuts. Finished what I
was doing and went to 'save as'. While I opened another app in the
background (gramps) to get the right filename it just suddently said
crash. (actually it was sudden - not drawn out like I've written
:-)
