I use gedit-2.16.1-0ubuntu2 and I can confirm this issue: any attempt to
save a file placed on cifs fails with an error message.

I would personally mark this bug with high or even critical priority as
the text-editor (in this case the default text-editor in Ubuntu) and its
capability to save files is an essential function on every system.

[Bug 50783] Initial bug report still applies to Dapper (6.06 LTS)

2006-12-20 Thread John Brook
Hi Richard,

I can't comment on Feisty because I'm still using Edgy.

I'm very happy for the bug report to be closed for Edgy.

However, I feel that there needs to be a confirmation of the bug's
resolution for Dapper before this report is closed. The reason being
that Dapper is LTS and the expectation is that people who are looking
for a very stable Ubuntu version with long term support will choose
Dapper. The version of Gnumeric that I used on Dapper amd64 was far
from stable.

 John

 Hey John,

Thanks for the quick reply there. In the meantime I going to go ahead
and close this report as it seems to be working for you and it seems to
be working fine on Feisty here as well (however I am not 64bit). If you
feel that this is still an issue, I urge you to reopen this report.
 Thanks again John.

Critical: A bug which has a severe impact on a large portion of Ubuntu users
Medium: A functionality bug of the standard variety. Most bugs are of Medium
severity, for example:

* Has a severe impact on a non-core application

It's a bug causing problems, but it's not a critical bug as it won't

[Bug 76388] windows don't move across workspaces

2006-12-20 Thread Bryan Silverthorn
Public bug reported:

Before Edgy, a simple and intuitive way to move windows across
workspaces was to use the drag window key (alt, by default), click on
the window to drag it, and then switch workspaces (with the move to
workspace N shortcut, in my case alt-FN), bringing the window along
with the workspace switch.

In Edgy, the workspace switch doesn't happen if you are dragging a
window, breaking this (useful and expected) behavior.

Hello Sebastien,

Hum... ok I tried this :

Under Fluxbox : Save file as then the Window is opening The
folder list expensed is closed I click on the arrow to display it, and
the bug appears as I explained. I test again and again to be sure.

Under Gnome : Save file as then the Window is opening The folder
list expensed is closed I click on the arrow to display it : the
window displays correctly.

I read Fluxbox has a 'Partial GNOME support', will it be a part of this problem

[Bug 76600] Move music files on import

2006-12-20 Thread Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Summary:

rhythmbox should offer the possibility of moving audio files to the
Library directory when they are imported, just like it does with audio
files ripped from a CD.

Rationale:

* The current name import file/directory is misleading, because files are not
imported into the library directory, they are just listed in the database.
* Rythmbox already has options to specify how files are stored in the library
directory.
* The lack of this feature forces the user to organize the files by hand,
writing onto the library directory and trying to mimic this organization
* This feature would be very useful, as it would allow us to reorganize the
music library whenever we want: i.e move all files from the library somewhere
else, empty the library, import. The music is organized!

[Bug 76600] Re: Move music files on import

2006-12-20 Thread Brian
Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a
specification for this as it seems to be a feature request or change.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs
page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If
that is the case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about
your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec
following the steps described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications.

You may also want to check rhythmbox's home page,
http://rhythmbox.sourceforge.net/ , to see if they have any plans along
the lines you are suggesting.

Thanks,

Brian

[Bug 66134] Not happy decrypting ascii-armored files with the standard .asc extension

2006-12-20 Thread peridot
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

When I double-click on one of the (many) encrypted files I have (all
ascii-armoured, all with the extension .asc) I get a long rude message
from nautilus telling me the file doesn't have the extension its MIME
type says it should and so it's probably a trojan. It does not tell me
what extension I should rename the file to, and it won't decrypt the
file.

I can decrypt the file just fine by renaming it to .pgp; .asc is the
extension produced by the KDE tool I used to encrypt the files (and it's
a standard extension for ascii-armoured files, not just signatures).

More generally, the extension (.pgp vs. .asc) is not really of any use
in determining what the file contains (encrypted message, signed
message, detached signature, public keys, private keys, some combination
of the above...); the correct approach would be to claim .pgp .asc and
.sig and have seahorse identify what kind of file it is.

This is the version of seahorse (and nautilus etcetera) in Dapper Drake
LTS, 0.9.3.

[Bug 41019] Doesn't allow to decrypt files you have encrypted

2006-12-20 Thread Lee Connell
Public bug reported:

Double clicking an ecrypted pgp or asc file in gnome/nautilus gives the
following error:

Couldn't display /home/lee/Desktop/ubuntu-issues.txt.pgp.

I also have in seahorse a preference not to ask what key to use when
encrypting and it asks me everytime.

[Bug 76611] Configuring input devices dialog hangs after user input

2006-12-20 Thread Mark Florian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

To reproduce:
1. Have graphics tablet connected and working (see below for more details)
2. Start GIMP
3. Go to File - Preferences - Input Devices - Configure Extended Input
Devices...
4. Observe input dialog, showing device confuration, apparently in working order
5. Change the Device drop down to something other than what's select by default
6. See that tab pane below isn't drawn and therefore can't be used.

I don't know how useful this is, but here's what GIMP puts in
~/.xsession-errors when the above is carried out:

(gimp:4745): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_scrolled_window_add: assertion
`bin-child == NULL' failed

(gimp:4745): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_realize: assertion
`GTK_WIDGET_ANCHORED (widget) || GTK_IS_INVISIBLE (widget)' failed

(gimp:4745): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_drawable_get_colormap: assertion
`GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed

(gimp:4745): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_background: assertion

`GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed

(gimp:4745): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_background: assertion

Now, I have a Wacom Graphire 2 USB tablet, running on edgy with up-to-date
*-generic kernel.
