[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
I can confirm that this problem still exists on the edgy eft. I have a fresh install of 6.10 and am using a Matrox G550 AGP card with default xorg drivers. I get this problem when selecting certain screensavers in Screensaver Preferences. Most screensavers do not give any preview and instead hang the Screensaver Preferences window after a while. If this screensaver remains selected and is activated when machine is idle it results in a complete hanging of the system only fixed by doing a cold boot. Fortunately the screensaver can be reset to blank-only with gconf-editor. Maybe I have been unlucky, but the only screensaver I have managed to get to work is the FiberLamp one, although I have not done thorough testing. Hope you guys solve it soon. -- Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE) https://launchpad.net/bugs/38181 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 44702] Re: gdmsetup: no error message when choice rejected
gdm (2.17.5-0ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low . * New upstream release: - No longer close file descripters in forked process which shows dialog boxes since this causes the dialogs to not display any text. - Now GDM will recognize when the system default language has changed and will display new GUI's with the new default language. By default the /var/sysconfig/i18n file is assumed to have the language defined in LANG=foo format. The --with-lang-file configure option may be needed to specify a different system language configuration file. On Solaris, for example, it would be /etc/default/init. - Remove filter_watch after it is called for the first time. This filter is used to start the at_spi_registryd, but after it is started there is no need to listen to the propery any more. - Further improvements to gdmsetup to improve usability. (Malone: #44702) - No longer hardcode invisible_char property in glade files, instead realy on GTK+ default. - Fix so that the userlist is hidden properly when there are no users. - Fixes for compiling with gcc 2.95. - Translation updates. * debian/patches/40_tiny_manpage_fix.patch: - fix gdm manpage has not updated for the distribution changes (Malone: #18709) ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- gdmsetup: no error message when choice rejected https://launchpad.net/bugs/44702 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 78510] file dialog cuts filename
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox Steps to reproduce: 1. Attach a file in gmail by clicking on browse. A file selection dialog (File Upload) appears. 2. Write on location the path to a file which will be auto-completed as you write. Use a filename that shares the beginning of the name with other files in the same directory. For example, foo/barbarbar and foo/barfoobar 3. When the filename you are looking for appears completed in the location bar press enter. 4. The filename selected will be foo/bar which does not correspond to any existing file. ** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- file dialog cuts filename https://launchpad.net/bugs/78510 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

OK. I will do it myself. I have just reproduced the bug in Synaptic, so I guess that it is a general GTK bug. [Bug 78510] Re: file dialog cuts filename
Hello manu, I think I misunderstood this bug, I was under the impression that this was not a bug because the auto-completion appeared to work fine for me.. Just you have to usually put in more than 1 letter occasionally after the auto-completion is done, then it will re-run itself to get the correct path.. Maybe when selecting is finished and it has produced a bad file-path, (through the method that you stated), that it produces error message stating that the file doesn't exist.. (I think that this is what you wanted to occur right?) I am sorry to have hastily closed the bug report, I see your point about the bug more clearly now.. Thanks again, Alex. -- file dialog cuts filename https://launchpad.net/bugs/78510 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 66068] Re: New iPod nano recognized as via raid member
Matthew, although I didn't test it in detail, I do not except my packages to break Feisty upgrades. The reasons are: - I only added a patch to debian/patches and changed the Ubuntu revision +1. - My package is version 0.5.7.1-0ubuntu18, the current one in Feisty is 0.5.8.1-4ubuntu1, so the upgrade procedure should detect hal as needs upgrade. - On a Feisty install having my hal packages for Edgy installed, a dist- upgrade works fine. -- New iPod nano recognized as via raid member https://launchpad.net/bugs/66068 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 78584] Evince title should be adaptable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince This is a feature request bug. Under Evince, when a PDF is loaded, the title of the PDF is displayed in the Window title of the Evince window. However, it would appear that some of the PDFs that I read lack a title, or are named “untitled” or something. These are PDFs that I read as eBooks through a distance learning program. It seems that Evince should be able to detect PDFs without a title or with the title “untitled” and be able to change to another means of identifying the window (such as the file name of the currently opened PDF). Even better, there should probably be an option that allows users to choose their Window title behavior: * Always display the PDF’s title in the window title, * Attempt to display the PDF’s title in the Window title with exceptions (a list, perhaps, which defaults to including “untitled”?), * Always display the document’s file name in the window title. This seems like it would be reasonable, anyway. I generally want to see the file name, myself, and not the document title as it was put into the document. It would help me to better keep track of everything, especially when working with many PDFs at once. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: evince + + This is a feature request bug.
