I don't really know if this is the same that happened to me, but, i have
an almos fresh install of the lates ubuntu edgy, and i installed support
for truetype fonts and added a few custom ones in /home/user/.fonts/,
and set one of those in system--preferences--fonts, then i found that
some apps
Or maybe it not the same problem/bug, let me know!

Found the problem. The laptop was upgraded from dapper-edgy-feisty. In
my /etc/fstab the cdrom was still referred to as /dev/hdb. Because it is
now scd0 I always got two cdroms displayed in nautilus. To get rid of
the false cd drive, I commented out the entry in the fstab. This led to
the wrong
I believe I have a similar problem to what is described here (though not all
symptoms appear identical).
When loggin in on my Gnome session, the only thing I get is a black screen and
a (functional) mouse cursor. 'ps' in a terminal shows that only
x-window-manager, ssh-agend, dbus-lauch

From the Themes browser - Details, i've found that only the windows
border themes (i.e., metacity) is responsive. Controls and icons are
stuck on the 'gnome default'.

When instead of logging out I try to reset gdm using control-alt-back
space I get to a console but gdm doesn't reload.

I have exactly the same situation (GDM running KDE over XDMCP on Ubuntu
6.06 with all updates applied, as of 21 March 2007) and GDM crashes
every time a remote user logs out from KDE. This doesn't happen with
Gnome or XFCE. I have to run sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart to get it back
again.
Afraid I
we'll have to update the gtk-only patch to 0.8.0 to be in line with
evince.
