OK... It looks like it all comes down to Nautilus crashing and it seems
like it has to do with moving files around in the 'File Browser' on the
'right of' screen. All desktop icons disappear and once I click 'ok' in
the below fault window, Nautilus starts back up and one File Browser
window,
I have this problem as well when using the workspace switcher, usually
when scrolling through with the mouse wheel. It has happened first when
I checked the Workspaces on a Cube button in Desktop effects. It has
persisted even though I have disabled this option. What happens is like
you say above

logged in about 3-4 times first with this user and have not experienced

I have kept the machine on daily updates.
Machine is a plain semperon 1700+, nvidia agp 660gt
