[Bug 125936] accessible login crushes GDM

2007-07-14 Thread stas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

If accessible login is checked from Login Window
PreferencesAccessibility on next load, GDM refuses to load--so the
entire system is essentially unusable. The problem was duplicated
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/83860 . Looks like
you might now about it but just in case. The fix was not too easy to
figure out for a newbee--you have to manually reset it in xorg.conf and
gdk.conf-custom

[Bug 125761] Re: constant problems communicating with exchange backend process

2007-07-14 Thread James Lamb
Hi,

Sorry I missed those steps,

When I create an email I will add all of the people I am sending to,
generally with one person in the to, and the rest in the CC box. When I
send messages to many people (generally at least 8) the email addresses
are searched fine from the global address book until I hit a large
number. At that point I am unable to search the users any longer and
when I alt-tab back to the main evolution window I will have an error
saying that evolution is unable to communicate with the exchange backend
process. I then find that I am unable to fetch new emails etc until I
restart evolution.

I would have expected that the email client would be able to find the
additional users in the GAL and the exchange process would not die.

Regards,

James

[Bug 84007] Re: Cannot edit audio profiles without closing the list

2007-07-14 Thread Bruce Cowan
If people actually listened, you wouldn't have this bug. The bug is in
gnome-media, not sound-juicer. The only reason why grip works is because
it doesn't use gnome-media's dialogue.

If you install the packages I have provided, the bug is fixed
completely. (apart from the resizing issue).

This is the last time I post to this bug, as bugs aren't forums you
know.

Reported upstream.

Thanks for reporting the bug!

we would like you to give us some more information so that the bug is
more likely to be solved.

Can you reproduce the bug even if you aren't moving files to/from the
other drive? does it happen every time?

Please attach your /etc/fstab

Also, if you could tell us what file format the files were (and if it
matters). If it only happens with a couple of files (and not with some
others), please attach them too.

Thank you!

[Bug 125992] nautilus: blank/format CD/DVD option in context menu

2007-07-14 Thread David Jaša
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Now Gnome offers no straight-forward way to erase optical discs (blank
in case of CD's, format in case of DVD's), but this could be pretty
easily fixed by adding an option to nautilus context menu for optical
drives. Name of this option could be chosen from erase optical media,
blank CD-RW, format DVD[-+]RW and format DVD-RAM depending on type
of actual disc in drive. This should call a dialog setting options for
erasing (e.g. speed) and confirming it.

[Bug 114963] Re: key ring dialog is not modal

2007-07-14 Thread James Stansell
I can confirm this bug (Ubuntu 7.04). Even though it doesn't normally
put my password in full view my typing is likely to go where it's not
intended which is bad in several ways. I would expect this dialog to
grab the keyboard so the typing doesn't go anywhere else (either
maliciously or accidentally.) I'm not sure if modal covers that but
modal would be an improvement.

The program in question appears to be /usr/lib/gnome-keyring/gnome-
keyring-ask

[Bug 99276] Re: User and Groups does not inform user that manual UID already exists and create user groups.

2007-07-14 Thread jhansonxi
I just encountered this same issue on a new Feisty (7.04) install when I
attempted to create a user name of staff. As is default in Ubuntu,
USERGROUPS=yes in adduser.conf so each new user gets their own group.
The group staff is a Ubuntu default with a GID of 50 so it couldn't be
used. No messages were displayed by users-admin and I didn't figure out
what the problem was until I tried to use adduser which informed me the
group already existed.

2007-07-14 Thread judoka
I experienced the same problem and I think I've narrowed it down to the
end of the evince.postinst file:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/dpkg/info$ cat test.sh
#!/bin/bash

if which gtk-update-icon-cache /dev/null 21; then
for dir in /usr/share/icons/hicolor; do
echo trying $dir
gtk-update-icon-cache --force --quiet $dir
done
fi
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/dpkg/info$ sudo ./test.sh
trying /usr/share/icons/hicolor
bad image index
The generated cache was invalid.

When I comment out the gtk-update-icon-cache line the package installs fine.
It may also be worth noting that I very recently upgraded from feisty to gutsy.

2007-07-14 Thread judoka
That block of code was also stopping gnome-panel-data and gnome-session
from installing for me. Perhaps part of the gtk theme stuff gets messed
up when upgrading from feisty? I'm not sure if I should submit it as a
bug to those packages as well, or if it is something I am seeing because
I installed feisty and then changed my sources.list to upgrade. Any
insight appreciated.

using this argument when you start java will alleviate the problem in
the cases i've tested (intellij)

-Dawt.toolkit=sun.awt.motif.MToolkit

i have verified this on 7.04 where

JDK_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.11
and
JDK_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6-sun-1.6.0.00

[Bug 126028] Top and bottom panels are black instead of white. Firefox default browser is black, and Open Offfice is all black. Seems I do not get white where it should be white!

2007-07-14 Thread John Moore
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

It simply seems like black and white are reversed, right now I'm looking
at my Firefox browser and the entire browser is black everywhere it
should be white, the menu bar, the navigation bar, and the status bar.
The space in the Google search window is also black.

OK, thanx... John

Ah I've worked it out. One's for the p7zip package (which provides the

provides the 7z command), but I think they both use the 7z command.

[Bug 126057] Switching visualisation screen in fullscreen mode doesnt work correctly

2007-07-14 Thread Tom Badran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have a two screen setup. When using the visualtion plugin, there is a
little combo box for picking which screen to appear on (i dont know
whether this exists or not on a single screen setup). Having the
visualisation running in fullscreen, and then switching the option to
change screens doesnt work correctly. There are at least 2 ways it
fails, on switch on my setup will cause the window to move to the
correct screen, but it wont be fullscreen, and the visualistaion becomes
invisible. Switching the other way just causes nothing to happen.

However it is possible to workaround by switching to embedded mode and
back to fullscreen.

[Bug 85886] Re: gdmchooser breaks gnome-switch-user

2007-07-14 Thread rikis
Hi there!

Apologies if not posting in the right place!

I (don't know how) set up the gdm chooser and I get the same mistake:

You do not seem to be logged in on the console
Starting a new login only works correctly on the console

I am using Ubuntu Feisty fawn on a Dell inspiron 1501.

If possible i would like to know how to go back to the original configuration
so that i don't have to make use of the chooser

Is it possible to disable it?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 126079] sh highlight mode incorrect

2007-07-14 Thread Andre M
Public bug reported:

gedit does not consider $# specially and treats everything after the
hash as a commentary.

For instance, when editing the following code as a .sh script:

#!/bin/bash
echo $# arguments

On the second line, everything after the $ is colored as a commentary,
when in fact $# is a special variable.

Can you please provide some example code to reproduce the error? And
what do you mean by 'not highlighted as it should be'? In my gedit
(2.18.1) 'friend' is highlighted in red, and 'friends' for instance is
not highlighted at all.
