[Bug 126492] Totem player cut sound every 3 second for MP3

2007-07-17 Thread ristoL
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Problem: sound is cut every 2-3 second while music file is played. This
happens for the first file played about 1min and 45 second (some time
even 3 minutes). If I load a another file or play the file again in the
same session there is not such a problem. If I close Totem and start it
again I have same problem the first 1 minute and 45 second.

During the sound cut problem, the sound visualization is not visible but
as soon it is shown the cut is not any more there.

So maybe this is related to loading of visualization.

Sound files are not same physical disk as Ubuntu. Music are on SATA-1
disk which format is NTFS.

[Bug 126500] vte has some trouble handling chinese language

2007-07-17 Thread Hawk Xu
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce this error:

1. Make a new directory under /tmp with a Chinese name.

2. cd into this directory

3. use vi to open a new file

4. quit vi

Then you'll see that the prompt of the shell in the gnome-terminal will turn

[Bug 126502] scrolling down the mousewheel on the collection does nothing.

2007-07-17 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

more like a missing feature than a bug, actually. Scrolling down the
mousewheel while the cursor is on the image collection should move it to
the right, and scrolling it up should move it to the right.

It's ironic because if you use a mouse with horizontal scrolling,
scrolling left or right will move the collection to the desired
direction. But most mice just have vertical scrolling, which remains
unused in EOG.

2007-07-17 Thread Uwe Schilling
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 119636 ***

I had the same problem. I backed up the .evolution-folder in my home
directory and then deleted it. I started evolution, which was suddenly
no problem. Putting the whole old .evolution folder back in place made
the problem reappear. However, if I just copy the subfolder local, I
have all my old mails back and evolution works again. I have no time for
further tests, which subfolder actually initiates the problem, but as
far as I see it, if you don't have many filter rules, it should work
fine. However, I don't know what the subfolder cache is for and I
don't use any other evolution function than mail.

[Bug 126520] smoothScroll forgotten / not shutting down cleanly

2007-07-17 Thread Gustavo Carneiro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

I set the option general.smoothScroll to true, but every time I restart
the browser it goes back to false.

Another problem which may (or not) be related is that it seems this
version of epiphnay keeps running in the background even after all
windows/tabs are closed. And it also doesn't exit the gnome session
correctly: every time I reboot and start epiphany it complains that it
wasn't shutdown correctly and asks if I want to recover the session.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When viewing pdfs in evince 0.8.1, the search function is broken in the
following sense. When you press Ctrl+f, the search pane pops up at the

Ctrl+r), the search pane stays open, all search results are cleared but
the search text is still in the input field and also the next result

[Bug 126540] Opening Popupmenu in Context of Folder with List-View impossible?

2007-07-17 Thread Alexander Menk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Situation:

I've got installed the package which provides an open-terminal here
functionality for folders.

If Symbol-View is choosen, I can right-click into the empty space
between the symbols to open the context menu for that current folder.
There it is also possible to create a new folder.

Problem:

I use the List-View most of the time. Using that, I cannot find any
empty space to right-click on for opening the desired popup menu for the
current folder. All I can get is the file-based popupmenu.

Solution:

Workaround: The menu per-folder is accessible via the File-Menu.

Better solutions: Make the Popupmenu for the current folder accessible
in a better way. Perhaps you can merge it with the File-Menu. Or make it
available when clicking on folders in the treeview.

[Bug 44002] Re: Trivial actions are not appearing immediately

2007-07-17 Thread Bogdan Butnaru
I'm sure something can be done about this. I've just done an strace on
the menu opening, it tries to do ~1500 file opens (most of which are for
non-existent files).

First of all, most of those should be preloaded (actually, they should
be cached once, then the cache should be preloaded in one step). The
argument that it takes up memory doesn't hold, because the memory is
still taken up the first time I open the menu.

Second of all, any refresh can be done incrementally. There's no reason
to flush the entire menu and re-open 1500 files, when one or two might
be new. And especially you don't need to do it on every boot.

Third, even a refresh could be done in parallel, with a nice -n 10 to
make sure things don't get unpleasant.

Last, I don't even get it why it has to read the entire menu. If I'm
going for the package manager I have no reason to wait for th 1500 file
accesses, when it fact I'm only going to see about 20 icons on the way.

2007-07-17 Thread xtknight
I still have this problem with Ubuntu Feisty release. It's been here
since Edgy as far as I know. It happens on the same workspace here.
Just minimize gedit, modify a document, try and logout, and then you
can't click it on the taskbar or do anything with it.

Bottom line is, I think gnome panel or metacity partially dies and then
you can only use alt-tab.

Storing documents in Evolution is a habit acquired from my days as a

e-mails between programmers often referred to documents, it was

[Bug 126616] Re: Cannot copy files from file system to Evolution folders

2007-07-17 Thread hggdh
ah, OK. Just please keep in mind that Evolution is not a mail *server*,
but just a mail *client*. General rule, copying extraneous files into
the Evolution work directory for an user is really not a good idea.

For the record, I am talking about copying any files not related to
Evolution itself into ~/.evolution.

[Bug 124356] Re: cannot eject volume

2007-07-17 Thread Joacim Thomassen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 108643 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108643

I also experience this bug under Feisty. Bug #108643 does not represent
my problem since my usb harddisk only has one partition. This bug is far
more severe than bug #108643 as it probably affects more users. (those
able to create more than one partition on their disk can also do a sudo
eject /media/disk from the terminal without complaining). After
reading the forum debate Cannot unmount USB hard disk in Ubuntu 7.04 I
would have guessed that bug #108643 only was a special case of this bug.
Whether this bug is rooted in nautilus or hald I'm not sure of. I've
attached the output from hald during a eject done by right clicking
the disk icon in the gnome desktop.

How to clean icon cache? I do the same error.
I try with apt-get clean, apt-get autoclean, apt-get install -f, dpkg
--configure -abut it always is the same. I try also with synaptic and maybe
it's works. But I would like to have the apt-get command working too.

[Bug 126674] glimagesink not an option under gstreamer-properties video output

2007-07-17 Thread bassaf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy (dist-upgrade from Feisty), x86 version.

Essentially, I wanted to set the video output to use opengl (so I can
watch video in Totem while having compositing)

I followed these instructions

'Run gstreamer-properties [Multimedia Selector in the Ubuntu Menus], and set
the video output to glimagesink. You'll need to have the gstreamer0.10-gl
(I think) package installed.'
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3036737posted=1#post3036737

Worked a treat. However, there is no drop down option for openGL. So I wouldn't
have been able to figure this out.
Bug or missing feature?

Thanks!
