[Bug 35112] Re: MP3 track times are incorrect
Using xingheader instead of xingmux (see comment #17) fixed the problem for me. It seemed to worked for a while, so I stopped paying attention. Recently I dug into it again and noticed that the problem reappeared, at least since January 9th 2007. Right now: - xingheader ! id3v2mux results in wrong bitrate and track time - xingmux ! id3v2mux results in wrong track time in Totem and Nautilus. ** Changed in: gst-plugins-ugly0.10 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Confirmed -- MP3 track times are incorrect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/35112 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 128470] Window title doesn't change when stream title changes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I am running Totem Movie Player 2.18.1 with GStreamer 0.10.12 and GNOME. [Bug 128482] gnome login crash after panel properties update
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome I installed 7.04 on a new PC and started to customize my desktop. Afterwards I was not able to log in: gnome crashed after flashing my desktop briefly and went back to the login screen. After a long process of testing the modifications one at a time, I came to this conclusion: If I resize the bottom panel from 32 to 40 pixels, gnome crashes. If I put it back at 32, all is OK again. The file I was changing between tests: ~/.gconf/apps/panel/toplevels/bottom_panel_screen0/%gconf.xml The change I made was to the entry called size. Test procedure: 0. log in to normal account 1. using panel properties (right mouse menu), change the bottom panel size to 40. 2. log out and back in 3. gnome crashes and returns to login page 4. log in as root and edit the above file back to 32 5. log in to normal account 6. everything is now normal daemon.log had the unhelpful message: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0 I was not able to find anything else relevant among the tons of trash in the many log files. After doing a google search and visiting some forums, I discovered others having this problem or a very similar one. I could not find a similar bug report, so I am filing a new one. Others have stated that the problem is triggered by enabling transparency in the panel. I tested this and concluded that BOTH conditions are needed to trigger the problem: a panel with transparency enabled AND bigger than the default of 32 pixels. I have two computers running Ubuntu 7.04. One has this problem, the other one does not. If you run gdmsetup, it will automatically edit this # file for you and will cause the daemon and any running GDM GUI programs to # automatically update with the new configuration. Not all configuration # options are supported by gdmsetup, so to modify some values it may be # necessary to modify this file directly by hand. # # Older versions of GDM used the gdm.conf file for configuration. If your # system has an old gdm.conf file on the system, it will be used instead of # this file - so changes made to this file will not take effect. Consider # migrating your configuration to this file and removing the gdm.conf file. # # To hand-edit this file, simply add or modify the key=value combination in # the appropriate section in the template below. Refer to the comments in the # /usr/share/gdm/defaults.conf file for information about each option. Also # refer to the reference documentation. # # If you hand edit a GDM configuration file, you should run the following # command to get the GDM daemon to notice the change. Any running GDM GUI # programs will also be notified to update with the new configuration. # # gdmflexiserver --command=UPDATE_CONFIG configuration key # # e.g, the Enable key in the [debug] section would be debug/Enable. # # You can also run gdm-restart or gdm-safe-restart to cause GDM to restart and # re-read the new configuration settings. You can also restart GDM by sending # a HUP or USR1 signal to the daemon. HUP behaves like gdm-restart and causes # any user session started by GDM to exit immediately while USR1 behaves like # gdm-safe-restart and will wait until all users log out before restarting GDM. # # For full reference documentation see the gnome help browser under # GNOME|System category. [Bug 128474] screenshot, annotate and zoom plugins interfere with mouse
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz After enabling compiz via the Desktop Effects preferences item, the mouse becomes unusable: * Left click does nothing * Left click and drag creates a lasso which selects an area of the screen and takes a screenshot (the screenshot plugin) * Right click and drag draws a red line on the screen (this is the annotate plugin) * The scroll wheel zooms the screen, and often gets wedged I was experiencing this on two completely different pieces of hardware both running 7.04; a Sony Vaio VGN-S260 laptop using built-in keyboard and trackpad, and a custom-built desktop using ordinary USB mouse and keyboard. Disabling the screenshot, annotate, and zoom plugins appears to have eliminated the problem. Other notes: * Control+Left click appears to send a perfectly normal left click event * Left click works as expected when clicking on small scaled windows in scale-mode (like Expose) * Left click sometimes worked in menus, like the system menu I had to use gconf-editor to disable the plugins, and it took a bit of massaging to get that change to stick. I'm not sure why, but often my changes in gconf would be discarded or overwritten. This may have been happening because desktop-effects was open, or it may be that some gconf changes don't take effect until compiz or gconf is restarted. Here is what I finally did that worked: 1. Start compiz via desktop-effects 2. Close the desktop-effects window 3. Start gconf-editor (use Control+Left click if you need to use the mouse) 4. At this point, compiz seemed to crash and I was back in metacity, I have no idea why 5. Disable the screenshot, annotate, and zoom plugins 6. The bug still happens, but the second tab becomes solid instead of the the third. My feisty is upgraded from dapper, does it make a difference? This bug did not happen when I was in dapper and edgy. Sorry, that wasn't very clear. With the regular gnome terminal without running screen, the mouse scrolls through the *scrollback* of the terminal (ie what you would expect since the widget has a scrollbar). [Bug 118745] Re: Font sizes in Gutsy are vulnerable to bad X.org DPI detection
Hello Andreas Presumably your fonts scaled to 75dpi but displayed on your 96dpi screen. They were therefore not displayed as an 11pt font but instead displayed as an 8.5pt font. Now the dpi is presumably detected correctly, it is displayed, as set, at 11pt. As you rightly say, there is a matter of taste how big you would like to see your fonts on screen. But having the system set up so that it does not know the resolution of your screen is not a good way to achieve the desired result. Putting it another way, if your screen were really 75dpi, you would probably again find the fonts too big. Once screen dpi is correctly detected and set on the majority of systems, if users find the fonts are then too big, bugs can be filed against Gnome/KDE for more appropriate default font sizes. In the meantime, you can adjust your menu font sizes to your preferred size in the control panel. -- Font sizes in Gutsy are vulnerable to bad X.org DPI detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 125626] Re: Missing advanced tab in most printing dialogs
In the advance tab of Gimp I can choose printout mode which is very handy because printout mode differs for me very often: - print a text file in in draft grayscale mode - print a picture in in photo color quality - print a web page in default color mode - print a document in normal grayscale mode This allows me to save color from color cartridge or gives me more speed for simple text printouts.
