[Bug 127944] Re: [gutsy] Open Office applications don't start
Seems that this originated from a change in gtk between 2.11.5 and 2.11.6. It still happens with OO.o 2.3. There is no proper fix in sight for Tribe 4, so we have to bite the bullet and temporarily add -gtk to Kubuntu for now: kubuntu-meta (1.48) gutsy; urgency=low . * Refreshed dependencies * Added openoffice.org-gtk to desktop-recommends-i386, desktop- recommends-amd64, desktop-recommends-powerpc. [Bug 80856] Re: F-Spot as default for importing photos
I heavily object against this in F-Spot's current state. It crashes very often, import into a selected directory does not work (instead it always puts them into ~/Photos), the UI is mostly disabled and thus unusable for me in directory browsing mode, and the directory structure it creates in ~/Photos is anything but sane and manageable (such as ~/Photos/2007/08/03/1234.jpg). [Bug 105261] Feature Request: Right-click to erase/format removable read-write media
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop This is a request for behavior similar to that found in Windows XP and Windows Vista regarding the treatment of removable devices that are read-write in nature. When such devices are put in (e.g., a CD-RW is placed into the drive, or a SD card is inserted into a built-in SD reader on the computer), they are automatically mounted and a new Nautilus window is presented to the user for the device. However, there are no options to erase/blank CD- RWs, or format removable USB or SD card storage devices. ATM, one must open a terminal and manually unmount the device(s) in question and commence blanking or formatting manually, using wodim or mkfs and friends. Optionally, there should be a related option for USB/SD card/etc. type devices to allow their partition tables to be easily changed. Ideally, all of these options should be present in context menus within Nautilus. It does not seem possible to have a Nautilus Script handle this in all situations, because it does not seem that it passes the directory value for items right-clicked under “Computer”. It should probably look at whatever is being right-clicked and, if it is in “Computer”, see if (a) it has media present, (b) if so, is it read-write, and (c) what type of media is it. Then it should present the relevant options (“Blank CD- RW”, “Blank DVD-RW”, “Format SD Card”, “Format USB drive”, etc.) and start a program to handle the option. In the case of blanking RW optical media, it should merely be a small status window that shows how far along the process is, and estimated time remaining, probably calling wodim to handle the blanking itself. http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/windows-format-disk-options.png has a picture of what the Windows formatting window looks like; it might be useful in modeling an applet to do the same job under Ubuntu, with the added ability to find out what mkfs.* utilities are installed and present options for formatting filesystems with them. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New -- Feature Request: Right-click to erase/format removable read-write media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105261 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 74975] No undo or cancel button on property dialogs
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop Summary: When editing the properites of an object, let it be in Nautilus, Rhythmbox, or any other Gnome application, there is no way to cancel the operation and revert to the original values. Sometimes this is not a problem, when there's only _one_ edited value and we remember the original value, but in general this causes a lot of trouble to new and experienced users. Most important it sets the burden on the user to undo any accidental damage or mistake. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a Nautilus window. 2. Right click on a file and enter the properties dialog. 3. Change the file name to some stupid value. Wait one hour until you have forgotten the original value :-) 4. Close the window with either the Ctrl+W shortcut or Close button. What happens: The new wrong value is stored, independent on the way we close the window. What should happen: The dialog should offer the user a way to undo the change before closing the window. Even if the guideline is to apply instantly these changes, the changes should be reverted unless the user confirms them. Related bugs: The same problem appears in Rhythmbox when editing the properties of a song. From http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387201#c4 traceroute.c didn't change between 2.14 to 2.18. My guess the bug was introduced by the Ubuntu customization (it uses tracepath instead tcptraceroute/traceroute). In Ubuntu Feisty, at the moment of paste, the output is the following: (gnome-nettool:29446): Gdk-WARNING **: Error converting from UTF-8 to STRING: Invalid byte sequence in conversion input So, I guess strip_line (traceroute.c) is filled with some garbage. -- Can't copy information from Traceroute table https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 44775] Re: Can't copy information from Traceroute table
I'm not familiar with launchpad and I haven't found how to reopen this bug; which I can confirm. Neither I haven't found how to take out the 'upstream dependency'; because this is bug is in Ubuntu, not upstream. I can still reproduce this bug. [Bug 116492] Re: Delete button should appear below Move Up and Move Down
I don't agree with you on that one. From what I understand from alacarte, I see 4 basic functions: 1) Add Menu/Item/Separator 2) Move Item 3) Edit Item 4) Delete Item Functions 1) and 2) already have proper buttons on the panel, but functions 3) and 4) are hidden in a right-click menu... That's inconsistent and makes it harder for newbies, since it's not obvious how to delete. Furthermore, you still have plenty of space under the move down button to add a Properties and a Delete button, I don't see how that would clutter up the interface rather than improve it... IMO, not putting a delete button because you can delete using the right- click menu is like removing the move up/down button, because you can drag/drop items around... It's true, but it's not the most consistent and intuitive way of doing it... -- Delete button should appear below Move Up and Move Down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for alacarte in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
