Hi the reinstall did fix the screen so the wmv file will play however
Totem hangs and cannot play a DVD but apart from that everything works
fine except sometime the screen says in a small blue area out of range
for a moment after it boots up, but once it is running everything is

I found yesteday when I upgraded via commandline from feisty to gutsy
PDFs opened but appeared totally blank with evince. They were fine with
acroread and they were fine with epdfview which also relies on the
poppler libraries.

I'm not sure if anyone actually cares about this bug but I restored my
configuration with this procedure:
cd /tmp/
mkdir disabled
sudo mv orbit-* disabled/
sudo mv gconfd-* disabled/
gconftool-2 --spawn

PDF created with latex, viewed and printed in feisty, looked normal.
After upgrade to gutsy, internal link look red, bibliography link look green
and web link look blue. This appears also in freshly installed gutsy.

Because I didn't understand the discussions going on - it reminds me of
discussions with co-workers in my company. We have the following
situation:
a) a very visible bug appeares in one of the key applications of Ubuntu,
so that ordinary users like me will recognize it and say what a bad job
they

Since upgrading to Gutsy Gibbon I got a problem with evince: It prints
the red and green boxes enclosing pdf links on the paper as well!
In Feisty Fawn it displayed these boxes, but did not print them. Xpdf as
well displays boxes but does not
