[Bug 185267] Re: Nautilus crashes repeatedly on Ubuntu 8.04
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 185291] No icon for cd image
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I am using last night's hardy build (Alternate CD). Nautilus shows no icon for CD image of alternate CD. The problem has been there since alpha 1. I have noticed a few things which I hope should give some pointer to the problem. 1. 'file -i filename.iso' shows mime as application/x-iso9660. 2. nautilus shows mime for same image as application/x-cd-image 3. There is no entry in for application/x-iso9660 in /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml found in shared-mime-info. Please note that nautilus version is old (2.20.x) as I have not yet updated the system with latest updates. [Bug 151536] Re: Hangs on login and uses 100% cpu
Question: was e-d-s already running on login (in other words, did you log out Gnome and log in again)? Does it happen when you log out, or only during login? Is Evo itself auto-started on login? This happens on a fresh boot, when I login the first time into gnome (this is with the current hardy now). When I kill evolution-data-server and logout/login then it does not happen anymore. Evo does not start for me (I don't use it at all). [Bug 184833] Re: gnome-background-properties freezes when removing the current background from the file system
Maybe this could be helpful. I used this background on my notebook and on my desktop computer for a long time. The wallpaper was located in /usr/share/backgrounds/ and it has been added as background by using the add button which opens the file chooser dialog to select a background. One day I removed the background with 'sudo rm /usr/share/backgrounds/stormgreen.png', but the stormgreen background was still the current background of the gnome desktop. Then I opend the dialog to select another background, I clicked on the add button, a file chooser dialog opens, I closed the file chooser dialog, I closed the background selection window, I reopened the background selection window and it was frozen. Maybe the Problem depends on the German (Deutsch) localization. I hope this helps a little bit more. I have crashed the dialog of my notebook and the dialog of my desktop computer with this method. ** Attachment added: The used background http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11493720/stormgreen.png -- gnome-background-properties freezes when removing the current background from the file system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I confirm the problem also affects Epiphany, and it's worse (no workarrounds) because you can't change de dpi setting in about:config. Opposite to FF3, only the page is scaled. [Bug 71030] Re: Lock Screen blanks screen instead of showing screensaver (on external monitor)
I'm having the same problem, using one nVidia card with two monitors (laptop monitor + external LCD screen connected through d-sub contact), running Ubuntu 7.10. It has always worked before, but today, the laptop screen goes black after gnome-screensaver starts, and stays black. I can only see the mouse cursor. The other monitor works fine. Running gnome-screensaver-preferences gives me: The program 'gnome-screensaver-preferences' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 343 error_code 8 request_code 78 minor_code 0) It is the same after I do killall gnome-screensaver. Running glxinfo gives: name of display: :0.0 X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 78 (X_CreateColormap) Serial number of failed request: 13 Current serial number in output stream: 15 As far as I know, I haven't changed anything since yesterday, when it worked, except for installing gdesklets. -- Lock Screen blanks screen instead of showing screensaver (on external monitor) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71030 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 151536] Re: Hangs on login and uses 100% cpu
Thank you, Michael. Unfortunately, the stacktrace is still incomplete -- Although it looks like we are looping in pthread_mutex_lock (which calls __pthread_lock, which may go into a spinloop), we still do not know which e-d-s module initiated the call, nor when. Could you please install e-d-s-dbgsym (in fact, please install all corresponding e-d-s dbgsym packages, see below for a list of potential packages) )and repeat the bt with a 'thread apply all bt full'? [Bug 185371] Cannot umount the volume 'PHONE CARD'
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Mounting a PHONE CARD of Sony Ericsson K770i mobile telephone works perfectly, also with nice icon on the desktop of Gnome. Mount command shows: /dev/sda1 on /media/PHONE CARD type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,shortname=mixed,uid=1000,utf8,umask=077,usefree) Unmounting via mouse menu does not work, it reports: Cannot unmount the volume 'PHONE CARD' Details: Cannot remove directory Then the icon disappears from the desktop and the filesystem is not listed by the mount command. However with my previous mobile telephone Sony Ericsson K750i on the same laptop with the same software installation and configuration this problem does not occur. [Bug 150334] Re: Workspaces only in 1 row although set to be in 2 rows
I'm seeing the same behavior. I have 9 workspaces, and they all appear in one row in the switcher, despite me having Show all workspaces in: 3 rows set as a workspace switcher option. I've confirmed that manually killing brightside, followed by modification of the workspace switcher option restores the row functionality.
