Thanks for confirming the bug. It is true that in the particular example
I depicted you could use the arrows, however in general this is not
true, since you might want to open a file in a completly different
directory, say /usr/share/blabla.txt, in which case you do have to erase
and type it again,

i have tested in kde. konqueror wheel keeps rotating, but it does not
hang konqueror. i can go to other folder. but the same does not happen
in gnome. desktop hangs and so does nautilus. kde has its own separate
application for desktop i think it is kdesktop and hence it does not
hang the desktop.
this is not a nautilus bug.
nfs-common does not detect that the server has disconnected, and causes
desktop loss. this happens with both nautilus and thunar. i have not
tested kde.

Having only one cd-dvd reader on my pc, i don't think i could test the
extraction and encoding of cd audio track in mp3 while using the live
cd! May i use a virtual machine? Is there no one that could test this
bug?

When you right click in a window & create a new text file, after you
save it you cant open it. You have to manually select text editor (Gedit
- which should be the default selection). Ok if you know how but not so
cool if you dont.
