I too have this error happening on my Toshiba Satellite A300 with
Jaunty. I'm not sure what you want the original poster to add since into
Synaptic and removing wodim requires the removal of Brasero as well
(package dependency). I just installed K3B and it burned successfully

Does Nautilus not handle mime-type/opening issues in Gnome?
This is not a problem with the current Gnome Font Viewer, as is easily proven:
1. Find an OTF font file on your system.
2. If you just double-click on it, OpenOffice attempts to open it, and fails.
2. Right-click the OTF, go Open With ->
Found a solution to the problem:
By enabling the option "disable_hw_accel" on system B resolved all the
following problems:
1. Proper image scaling of video display for both local and P-in-P display
2. Remote video is now working on System B (and System A)
3. System does not crash (so far)

It's true that Inkscape does not have problems with the red area, so my
previous comment was wrong in that point. Sorry and thank you for
pointing this out.
However, Inkscape 0.46 has another (different) rendering problem - large
areas of white and white stripes in the middle of the picture where

I had a look at Edit->Keyboard shortcuts in Gnome Terminal and noticed
that the paste key was bound to Super+e. This was the problem. When I
changed it to Ctrl+Shift+E, the e key worked fine again. Changing it to
Super+e broke it once again. Look like a genuine bug in Gnome Terminal.

I had this same problem but it looks like the "Commands" plugin in
CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm) was 1. responsible for activating
those settings and 2. disabled by default in Jaunty. Enabling that
plugin fixed things for me.

I used the screen settings to change my resolution to a lower value
(because I could not get a projector to work). In order to change to the
lower resolution, I was asked for the system password, because "Monitor
Resolution Settings has detected that the virtual resolution mus

I've just download somes pictures from a mass storage device. Mass
rename theses pictures to match the ones in my directory.
I've just missed to type the extension (.JPG) during the mass rename dialog. I
can see all my images in my directory (thunar/nautilus) but not in gthumb.
