Re: [Bug 327872] Re: Missing support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS)

2009-08-06 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Geekkit arron.fergu...@gmail.com writes:

I'm confused as to the status of this bug report. Here are the steps
 AFAIU them:

 1) When I filed this bug with details of what the problem was and how to
circumvent it, it was originally filed against Nautilus.

Which is clearly wrong, as nautilus does not decode any media files.

 2) Then the bug got reassigned to gstreamer where its state went from
 new to confirmed

which is more correct, because nautilus is using the gstreamer framework
for media files.

 3) Then (still in gstreamer) new to unknown

 4) Then (still in gstreamer) unknown to new

upstream tasks are generally tracked upstream.

 5) Suggestion of FFMPEG supporting these files

gstreamer does TTBOMK have no AVCHD decoder, but uses ffmpeg for this.

 6) ffmpeg changed from new to fix released

Does this mean Ubuntu developers are now considering this bug now fixed?

I with my ffmpeg package maintainer in debianubuntu hat on, changed the
ffmpeg upstream bug-task's status, with the rationale given in comment
#6. As the ffmpeg developers do not follow nor even notice bugs
launchpad, and additionally have clear instructions for reporting such
bugs (which are clearly not followed here), I don't see what we as
ubuntu developers can do about this bug other than asking the submitters
to follow the ffmpeg upstream's bug submission guidelines
(i.e. submitting a proper example file).

[Bug 401991] Re: gdm display issues on Karmic

2009-08-06 Thread Gert Kulyk
I can confirm this issue on todays karmic. But I'm not sure if this is
really a gdm related issue. I've been using the ubuntu karmic gdm
sources for some time on jaunty and on Linux from Scratch before I've
upgraded to karmic, where this issue did not occur. Though I do not have
any proves yet, I think the new intel display driver in combination with
kms is at least one part of the problem. (The machine running karmic has
a i915 chip).

[Bug 409755] Re: Cannot access files using sftp

2009-08-06 Thread Fabian
I connected from a different computer to this server (and I also tried a
different server, getting the same error message). Connecting to the
same server with smb does work.

There is no crash, just this error message appears directly after I
press Enter.

I just now tried connecting via ssh on a terminal to this server and it
worked. I added the server to the known_hosts and I could connect. After
that it also worked in Nautilus. If I delete the known_hosts in .ssh
I get the error message again.

So it seems the problem is ssh asking, if the server should be added to
known_hosts.

[Bug 385927] Re: double click on .cpio.gz file says there is no application installed for this file type

2009-08-06 Thread marco.pallotta
You can simply create an empty file .cpio.gz (for example test.cpio.gz) and try
to double click on it.
You can make another test with an empty file .gz (for example test.gz) and try
to double click on it.
You will see that with the .cpio.gz file you will obtain the error while with
the .gz file all works ok.

If you want a real test you can download every .cpio.gz file from the
web (for example try the following
http://www.openmamba.org/pub/openmamba/devel/media/bootusb/it/openmamba-
bootusb-it-snapshot-20090801.i586.cpio.gz )

[Bug 409795] [NEW] evolution mail aliases regression

2009-08-06 Thread oleksiy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Problem happens since upgrade to Evolution 2.27.5 (Ubuntu Karmic)

I had had an email, say olek...@.com and an email alias account
supp...@.com, emails for both accounts were going into single imap
account. In Evolution I had set up two email accounts, one, the default
one is olek...@.com, and second is the supp...@.com, which had
the receiving server set as NONE.

Then, when I was hitting the REPLY button on the incoming email which
had TO:olek...@.com Evolution was setting the correct outgoing
account (olek...@.com), and when I was hitting the REPLY on email
which had TO:supp...@.com Evolution was automatically setting the
correct outgoing account to supp...@.com.

Now, that doesn't happen, Evolution always sets the outgoing account to
olek...@.com and I had to switch the outgoing account manually.

patch in order to fix this if you think it would not take too long to do
a patch for it, the Ubuntu team doesn't have the resources to work on a

[Bug 409809] Re: if you sync your time with ntp you have to re-open adjust date time option to reflect ntp package installation

2009-08-06 Thread marco.pallotta
This bug is related to bug #11560 that was marked as fixed released but you can
read that the issue is still present in Jaunty and also in Karmic alpha.
I think the bug was fixed on edgy but appeared again on next distro.

For this reason I have opened a new bug instead of changing the status
to new to bug #11560.

[Bug 409809] [NEW] if you sync your time with ntp you have to re-open adjust date time option to reflect ntp package installation

2009-08-06 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

If you want to sync your time with ntp you have to click on adjust date
time option on clock applet or launching time-admin from system -
administration menu.
When you switch the config to keep syncronized with internet Servers and ntp
support is not installed the gui tells you to install the package.
The problem is that time-admin doesn't reflect ntp package installation until
you launch it again.

Tested with Hardy and gnome-system-tools 2.22.0

2009-08-06 Thread Olivier Berger
Maybe this can help exhibit which file is damaged :
 cd ~/.evolution/mail/ ; for i in `find . -name folders.db`; do echo
Rebuilding Table $i; sqlite3 $i pragma integrity_check;; done

Just my 2 cents,

[Bug 11560] Re: [time-admin] must be restarted in order to use ntp, but it doesn't say so.

2009-08-06 Thread marco.pallotta
Hi guys! I have opened a new bug on this issue as, with other bugs, some
triagers told me that I had to open a new bug instead of changing back a fixed
released bug to new .
The bug is the number #409809

[Bug 389857] Re: [karmic] inhibit applet not working

2009-08-06 Thread Oded Arbel
Thanks for the fix, now the applet responds to my clicks and shows a
nice sleep not allowed icon - but it does NOT prevent the laptop from
suspending.

With the inhibit applet active (no sleep icon showing on the panel),
closing the lid immediately suspends the laptop. The applet now responds
to clicks, but has no effect on the actual ability of the laptop to
suspend.

[Bug 409815] [NEW] syncronize now option should be present in time-admin

2009-08-06 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

time-admin should include an option to syncronize the time immediately. An
option that sounds like syncronize time now could be good.
In the back-end the option should:
1) stop ntp
2) launch ntpdate
3) start ntp

** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu)
