[Bug 400863] Re: ck-history can take a *long* time to run, during which gdm is unusable
I've made a patch that caches the result of ck-history so there is no delay on startup (patch also upstream): lp:~ubuntu-desktop/gdm/ubuntu The cached version is used on startup and then updated once ck-history completes. The information is only used for ordering the user list so out-of-date information should not cause any serious problems. The first startup will be delayed until the cache has been written to. ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu Karmic) Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) = (unassigned) -- ck-history can take a *long* time to run, during which gdm is unusable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400863 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 408647] Re: totem crashed with SIGSEGV in free()
Upstream responds regarding why the subtitles aren't displayed in this case: I've tested that file, and the subtitles are very large images, including large amounts of blank space, so when clipped you just see part of the image, which happens to be within the transparent border. A fix could be to look inside the subtitles, trim transparent borders, and center the rest, but it really should be fixed encoding side, and this goes into diminishing returns. -- totem crashed with SIGSEGV in free() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: I never had this problem with Intrepid, as reported in a similar report - this is with Jaunty (gnome). The problem, which Ubuntu engineers have acknowledged as being associated with a Jaunty's modification to the standard gui shutdown applet (the delay cycle), is that the applet functions which terminate a session end it with a beep from the tower box, and not the default or user-specified sound clip on the System-Preferences-Sounds Logout line. This issue has been reported by other users in forums, but no solutions have been offered. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Shutdown applet beeps from the tower box, ignores sound clip system for logout. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/418516 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 424941] Re: natilus seems to start and crash, had to manully start it
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 223987] Re: reversed image with webcam Logitec 09b2
Hi, This is certainly not an ekiga bug (it will happen with any application), but rather a hardware issue. The webcam has been mounted upside down in the frame, the vendor probably solves this by providing a custom driver which corrects this in software, if you would use the default microsoft UVC driver in windows the image would be upside down too. In Linux, the upside down problem for UVC camera's is solved in userspace by the libv4l library. libv4l has the ability to correct the upside down image, but it needs to know that the webcam is mounted upside down to begin with. In order for libv4l to know this it has a table of laptops which are known to have their webcam upside down. Chances are good your laptop is already in this table, so first please try the latest libv4l: http://people.atrpms.net/~hdegoede/libv4l-0.6.2-test.tar.gz Which I've just updated with a table entry for the Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook P7230 Installation instructions are here: http://hansdegoede.livejournal.com/7622.html If that does not help, your laptop probably needs to be added to the upside down devices list, see this post for the information I need for this: https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/linux-uvc-devel/2009-June/004886.html -- reversed image with webcam Logitec 09b2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223987 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 424997] Re: sudo nautilus does not open gui
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) -- sudo nautilus does not open gui https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424997 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
