Here's the output from a test this morning. Karmic doesn't appear to
have a org.freedesktop.PowerManagement interface running on the session
bus, but I've included a log from the org.freedesktop.DeviceKit.Power
interface on the system bus as well as the GPM logs.

Actually, it is more like 2 seconds when in fullscreen mode. Also, the
terminal slows down processes with lots of output, such as, e.g.,
pdflatex. When I do time locate -i bild, which has about 1500 lines of
output, in fullscreen mode, the result is

A 12 mobile computer has a DVD writer and thus is a laptop but not a
netbook.
Thus I need to install Ubuntu desktop edition.

I have the same problem.
This is bad enough that if I have a single gnome terminal maximised on a
desktop then rhythmbox will jump when i switch to that desktop. I can
also see the effect when unminimising a large gnome terminal window or
when resizing a window at large sizes.

Aha, I have created the Eclipse launcher in the menu by my own as per
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/420873 the eclipse package will
not install anymore due to gcj.
Hence I downloaded eclipse from the website and installed it in /opt/
and did my own launcher.
