I removed my workarounds, moved my ~/.config directory to a backup
location, reboot the system, and then logged back on.

I discovered that DPMS fails when I boot an instance of android emulator, which
is a 32bit app in my 64bit ubuntu.

Indeed with Alex's line in the blacklist there is no problem and the
boot time has been dramatically improved; no camera of course. I am a
new newbie and I just wrote that the power manager might be the problem
because it doesn't use the latest upower version (0.9.4) but a previous
one. I've tried
Ripping, playing and Ejecting all work. so far so good.
I'll try copying a cd and then everything all over with a DVD too.

Thanks a bunch!
The only issue to those using it: you will loose a lot of settings and you will

Since 8.04->10.04, this was the greatest usability f-up i've experienced

It´s ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
The icon got imported with setting a music search path, preference on music tab.
So far I have not been able to produce any log file.

Update: I tried the suggestion offered in Question 111055 to add the

I had the same problem in Lucid Lynx. Rhythmbox 0.12.8 would not show
duration "Unknown" and disable the slider bar.
However, installing
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
fixed the problem.
I confirmed this by uninstalling gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, which
brought back the behavior, and installing it

cd ~ ; mkdir backup ; mv .config backup
then reboot, see if it is fixed, and post the results at bug #467668 ?

and post results
