[Bug 120829] Re: /dev/sda3 is mounted despite the 'noauto' option in fstab

2010-09-18 Thread Ingo Ruhnke
The bug is still present in Ubuntu 10.10 and it seems I can confirm what
Ubfan has mentioned, namely that the cause is the /media/ directory, as
all my drives that mount elsewhere haven't been auto-mounted. Also this
bug is only triggered sporadically, most the time it works fine and
doesn't automount drives it shouldn't, but every now and then all drives
will appear.

[Bug 641840] [NEW] totem has no sound while any flash app is making sound

2010-09-18 Thread CMNetworx
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have ran into this bug before and it was an easy fix, but I could not
find it in my history anywhere on this site..

So, While I have a flash app opened and playing audio in firefox, I
cannot get audio in any other app, This includes Totem, etc.

I tried installing libflashsupport, it said the package was dated and I
installed the replacement, still had the same issue.

Uninstalled the flash app through synaptic package manager, Re-installed
the standard ubuntu repository version, Still same issue..

[Bug 641850] [NEW] Nautilus leaks large amounts of memory

2010-09-18 Thread James Lewis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

If I leave my Maverick test box on overnight, I find that nautilus has taken
over so much memory by the morning that the machine is virtually
unresponsive... here it has almost 1 Gig resident, and another 750 megs in swap
space...

  PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
23275 james 20   0 1754m 945m 4528 D0 47.5  71:05.13 nautilus

My usage of Nautilus other than the basic operation of the desktop does
include connecting to a SSH/SFTP server on the network, and occasionally
moving some large files back and forth... but otherwise nothing unusual,
and at the time the memory was leaked, I was not at the computer at
all... (Although the network drive was still connected, so I don't know
if this is related)...

[Bug 641900] [NEW] search as you type isn't working

2010-09-18 Thread edv
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Hello, after upgrading from 10.04LTS to 10.10 beta, my rhythmbox 'search
as you type' seems to be rather broken. When I start typing something, I
just get random results at first and the actual song is never found from
the list.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open rhythmbox, start writing a name of a song that is on the current
playlist
2. Observe erratic result selection in the playlist that doesn't match what you
just wrote at all
3. After a few characters you just get the error sound for nothing found

Notes:
The actual search bar at the top of the interface works fine.
Search as you type works fine in Nautilus.

[Bug 605577] Re: Help contents title bar shows cubes with numbers instead of a proper title

2010-09-18 Thread Andrea Chiavazza
I vote for making an exception to the final freeze and fix it before release.
It might just be a cosmetic issue, but the about ubuntu application is also
affected and will most likely be run by people that don't know much about
Ubuntu and want to find out more.
This bug really wouldn't make for a great first impression about Ubuntu as an
operating system.

[Bug 641961] [NEW] gnome-panel not recognizable but show for dual monitors

2010-09-18 Thread Tony Wang
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

I'm using a laptop, and an external monitor. The problem happened when I set
the external monitor above, and the laptop below.
It seems that the gnome-panel is not recognizable by system, it covers the
title of the window. The weird thing is other layouts work well, even when the
laptop above the external monitor.

Rob Powell, thank you so much for responding quickly to this bug and
testing on Lucid to make Ubuntu better. In Maverick, I could not
recreate your scenario. This bug report is being closed due to your last
comment regarding this being fixed with an update. Lastly, regarding the
speed of yelp opening or operating, while I also experience a small
delay in yelp opening, that is another bug for another post. I recommend
doing a thorough search before posting another bug as it may already
exist via https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp Thank you again
for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Please submit any future bugs you may find.

[Bug 409706] Re: gnome-help excessive CPU usage

2010-09-18 Thread rusivi1
xor, thank you very much for testing this in Lucid and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I have an AMD dual-core and opening yelp from the
Terminal I went from 10%/5% to 50%/100% but the 50%/100% was sustained
for less than a second. While for modern hardware this is no sweat, this
is certainly an issue for less resource available hardware. Hence, it
seems this should be marked as wishlist. As well, I am confirming this
bug.

[Bug 408417] Re: No option to log in remotely via XDMCP

2010-09-18 Thread Rolf Leggewie
from the changelog:

   * 03_ipv6.patch: new patch from Julien Cristau, thanks a lot for
 investigating! Fix an allocation error that leads to passing garbage
 as addresses.
 Add to that a stripping of ::: from IPv4 mapped addresses, since
 this is not understood in $DISPLAY.
 Closes: #579033.

I don't think that is related to this ticket.

[Bug 426724] Re: login-screen has no user-pictures with encrypted home directories

2010-09-18 Thread Jens Janssen
Yes, this is what I did. And I repeated it minutes ago and the picture
disappears again. Not every booting-up, but 1 out of 5 times.

And yes, my system is up to data. System installed on 2010-09-15. Do I
miss anything? Perhaps this is the wrong bug because I don't use any
encrypted home directory ;-)

Re: [Bug 605577] Re: Help contents title bar shows cubes with numbers instead of a proper title

2010-09-18 Thread Shunsuke Akagi
Is this just issue of help menu?
Because the same thing happens when I unzip files in Japanese title.

By the way, when I see the help menu in Japanese setting, I can read
them well in Japanese.

I am just telling this so that someone figure out these root cause.

[Bug 642172] [NEW] Totem does not implement DBus standrad for MediaPlayer.

2010-09-18 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Hello,
I have an application that needs to interact with various media players. This
application uses DBus to watch signals that media players send.

Many good media players (like Amarok and Guayadeque player) now
implement the DBus API and standard well, but Totem seems to lag behind
development. AFAIK, Totem does not use DBus to inform other applications
about its doings.

My application wants to track the media players' TrackChange
signal/message on the DBus.

Dbus-monitor is a nice tool to peek what messages applications send to/via
DBus.
Start dbus-monitor
$ dbus-monitor

Here is a typical output of a standards following media player.
The output shows a TrackChange signal on the DBus. It is sent when media
player changes to a new song/radio-channel or track.

Signal sender=:1.477 - dest=(null destination) serial=65 path=/Player;
interface=org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer; member=TrackChange
   array [
  dict entry(
 string location
 variant string file://http://38.108.111.24:8002;
  )
  dict entry(
 string title
 variant string There s a kind of hush
  )
  dict entry(
 string artist
 variant string HERMANS HERMITS
  )
  dict entry(
 string album
 variant string Flower Power Oldies - We play the
groovy tunes you love from the 50s, 60s and 70s
  )
  dict entry(
 string tracknumber
 variant int32 1819045746
  )
  dict entry(
 string genre
 variant string 50s 60s 70s oldies
  )
   ]

Other applications can catch and react to this message.

http://www.mpris.org/1.0/spec.html
http://wiki.videolan.org/DBus-spec  (the spec)

BTW: RhythmBox does use DBus but the interface and signal names are totally
different from standard.
I think its interface name is org.gnome.Rhythmbox.Player instead of
standard's org.freedesktop.MediaPlayer
and eg. it calls TrackChange signal for playingUriChanged. Anyhow, you can
easily check these things with dbus-monitor.

[Bug 642177] [NEW] evolution do not displays jpg attachments inmediately

2010-09-18 Thread Santiago Roland
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I think this bug is duplicate of bug #539961 but i report as new one to
attach bug report files. The thing is that when clicking in the button
to see attachment this changes the arrow from side, to down and no image
is displayed. Even clicking several times it does not work, but waiting
like for 30 secs and then clicking again, it displays the image. I think
that HP 6735s AMD Turion X2 4GB RAM should not delay 30 secs in
displaying 100kb jpg image in mail as attachment...

any ideas?

[Bug 605577] Re: Help contents title bar shows cubes with numbers instead of a proper title

2010-09-18 Thread Jonathan Dotson
I agree with the above posts. If this isn't fixed most people who have
never used Linux and many who have will ditch it as soon as they see
this. It shows a rushed product and lack of professionalism and pride in
the distribution. Ubuntu seems to be more worried about time lines than
making a quality product as of late.

2010-09-18 Thread madbiologist
At least put up an official Wiki page with a workaround, possibly the
one described in comment #14. And maybe link to the Wiki page from the
Maverick release notes as well.

Sebastien - will David's fix be an SRU candidate post-release?
