[Bug 772959] [NEW] Nautilus don't want to mount partitions in Gnome Classic when Gparted is running

2011-04-29 Thread Piotr Drozdek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu-desktop 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC
2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04

$ apt-cache policy nautilus
nautilus:
  Zainstalowana: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13
  Kandydująca: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13

 *** 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What you expected to happen:
I login to Ubuntu, Gnome Classic session (with Compiz effects). I clicked
Places button (or open Nautilus window and choose from right menu). Then I
choose any partition to mount (I have some NTFS and ext4 on my computer, on two
harddrives). Partition should mount in the system and new Nautilus window with
contents should open, so I can browse files. It happening in all Linux system
that I have (for example Debian with Gnome - I click partition name and it
mounting and window opens).

What happened instead:
nothing happened. I clicked all partition one by one, they won't open. I tried
'gksu nautilus', but Root's Nautilus window don't have list with partition
which I can mount, so I cannot click anything.

WARNING: It happening ONLY, when Gparted is running. I just realize it
now.

compizconfig-settings-manager is installed, but metacity is still being
used as window manager. However, I'm using a dedicated /home partition
with settings from 10.10, so this might not be the right behaviour.

Re: [Bug 772399] Re: About 50% of all annotation content is not saved at saving a copy of the pdf

2011-04-29 Thread Gerd Bavendiek
Hi Marcel,

thanks for responding. The bug is quite easily reproducible. Here is
what I did:

I prepared a plain file with 10 comments:

lulu:/vm cat input.txt
Comment #1
lulu:/vm

The I copied /usr/share/doc/shared-mime-info/shared-mime-info-spec.pdf
in my working directory. I then opened the file with evince and did 10
annotations always using cut + paste. Finally I hovered with the mouse
over the annotations to assure they were all in place. This was the case.

I then saved the file as shared-mime-info-spec-with-10-annots.pdf, which
you will find enclosed.

As you will see, comments #1, #2, #3 and #10 are fine. All other
annotations have zero contents.

Hope this helps

Gerd

[Bug 772997] [NEW] Evolution and Google Apps: account assistant points Calendar and Contacts to Gmail instead of company account

2011-04-29 Thread Olivier Mengué
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When adding an IMAP mail account for a Google Apps account (for example
myacco...@example.com) the assistant creates Contact and Calendar account for
myacco...@gmail.com instead of keeping the domain name.
Of course, that doesn't work as gmail.com and example.com are different
namespaces for accounts.
The wrong account name is shown in the status bar.

I don't know about Mail, but it doesn't work either (Mail on IMAP
doesn't show in the status bar which account name it uses).

[Bug 694016] Re: DPMS Suspend doesn't work unless lid is open on laptop.

2011-04-29 Thread Tom Star
I think that considering how many people use laptop these days, this
should be a major issue. Seriously, these kind of bugs affect user
experience a lot. I am aware that security and stability problems are of
highest priority, but how can anyone expect Linux to become more
widespread on desktops if more than a year is not enough to even make a
decision whether an issue like this will be fixed or not.

Anyway, if someone needs a workaround, then in this forum
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-
manager/+bug/550054) search for 'nightflow' and follow his/her
instructions.

[Bug 773039] [NEW] en_GB translation should use Rubbish Bin

Per the description of Bug #406626 then Rubbish Bin is the correct
term for British English.

There are quite a few of strings involving the Trash/Bin/Wastebasket to

2011-04-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 773061] [NEW] Nautilus should default to copy when move will fail

2011-04-29 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Dragging a file from a read-only filesystem currently rightly causes the
drop action to be ‘copy’ rather than ‘move’. However, if you drag a
file from a location to which you don't have write privileges (so it's
read-only because of permissions) Nautilus will by default try and fail
to move the file.

Nautilus drag and drop should default to copy when dragging from a
source which is read only, regardless of the reason it's read-only.

[Bug 773087] [NEW] When starting nautilus, File Roller starts??

Public bug reported:

I can not open Nautilus from the main menu 'Places'
When I choose a folder then File roller starts every time with some error

[Bug 773125] [NEW] gnome-session needs a default session

2011-04-29 Thread Kjell L.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Right now on natty if I want to start a session with another window
manager I need to create a .session file on natty. This breaks with old
configuration where per user you could set window manager, panel and
file manager in ~/.xsession by setting the right gconf key or
environment before launching gnome-session.

Suggestion to fix this is that when you start gnome-session without
--session parameter it will respect your setting as before.

[Bug 139627] Re: Clock applet opens wrong day in evolution

2011-04-29 Thread Florian Lentsch
I just upgraded to natty and this changed the version of my gnome-panel
to 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu6 where this should be fixed according to the above
posts.

However this didn't solve the problem on my machine... What happens now
made me laugh a bit: Now the opened day is correct but the month opened
is the month, that was clicked, minus one. (Double click on April 29th
opens March 29th - the year is correct though ;-) )

I guess the bug is still in the panel, since the issued command is the
following for my example:
evolution calendar:///?startdate=20110329
Another indication for this is, that clicking on a date in the unity clock
applet (or indicator, as I believe those are called now) works fine! Unity
calls:
evolution calendar:///?startdate=20110428T23Z

Before trying I removed all evolution settings using the following commands:
rm -r ~/.evolution/
rm -r ~/.gconf/apps/evolution/
evolution --force-shutdown
killall gconfd-2

[Bug 740864] Re: Find result is too light gray

2011-04-29 Thread Paul Sladen
irclogs. appears to have dropped at the crucial period so I can't link
to it, but:

Cimi chaotic: all these regressions must be fixed
chaotic Cimi: yes, I could see that on those two sshots you did
Cimi chaotic: a way to properly fix the bug is by patching gedit
chaotic Cimi: I would say your fix is the best for now anyway

based on Otto's advice, I'm intending to upload the staged commenting-
out to natty-proposed; then hopefully with mpt's input there can be some
guidance for how to do this /should/ work in an ideal world for Ubuntu
11.10.

2011-04-29 Thread Jeff Lane
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 49579 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49579

Sebastien,

That's fine... but the bug you marked me a duplicate of has been open
since 2006 and Dapper. if Gnome refuses to fix it, then we should, it's
a moderate physical security risk, a super big annoyance, and it's now 5
years old. This should have been resolved by someone years ago.

Don't take that as personal criticism, it's just that things like this
really get to me...

[Bug 772348] Re: yelp crashed with SIGSEGV in yelp_storage_update()

2011-04-29 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the
developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack
trace.
Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an
attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your
problem.

[Bug 139627] Re: Clock applet opens wrong day in evolution

2011-04-29 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Sebastien, it might be a good idea for LP to permanently archive old
bugs after e.g. 1 year, to avoid a case where people add data to an
allegedly fixed old bug. More to the point, I'm still wondering how I
ended up subscribed to this old bug, in a case where I had already
opened a new bug about this newer issue.

[Bug 726902] Re: [i945gm] Loss of vsync when using Metacity.

2011-04-29 Thread HannesB
Asus EEEPC 1000H:
I did not get tearing-free working in 11.04 so far, it worked with 10.10:
Maybe related to that:
glxgears:
Metacity, Openbox or LXDE: 45 fps (stuttering)
Unity - CCSM Vsync On: 55 fps (stuttering)
Unity - CCSM Vsync Off: mostly around 60 fps (slightly stuttering)
(10.10 all with without compositing 60 + absolutely smooth)
I know its not a benchmark but If glxgears fail, other things will fail
probably too.
Generally, Intel 945 OpenGL-performance seems to be poor in 11.04

Upgrading with proposed-repository: no change:(

[Bug 773268] [NEW] resize grips turn into ugly rectangles when changing gtk theme

2011-04-29 Thread Alistair Buxton
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1. Switch gtk theme to clearlooks
2. Switch gtk theme to ambiance

Now look at the bottom right of the window. The resize grip is now
painting over the UI. This persists until gtk applications are
restarted. See attached screenshot. Quite possibly affects gtk3 as well,
but cannot test as I don't know of any applications that use it.
