[Bug 906042] Re: Menu items are miscapitalized, and Preferences is out of date

2012-02-01 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Charles, could you please also replace the three single dots '...' by
the unicode symbol U+2026 (…).

I think (actually, I hope) we do that in all menus.

[Bug 924717] [NEW] Evince freezes when opening menu with F10 key

2012-02-01 Thread Adi Sujiwo
Public bug reported:

TESTCASE: any .pdf file, using Unity+compiz on Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, any
video driver.

I was reading a PDF file when suddenly F10 key was pressed; the whole
desktop except mouse pointer froze. Fortunately I was able to switch to
console using Alt-F{1-7}. After killing evince, desktop is usable again.
I was able to reproduce this bug using nvidia and intel driver, using
single and dual monitor configuration.

2012-02-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your work, does it make sense to use the
com.canonical.indicator.bluetooth namespace where the code is from
gnome-bluetooth (though the key is ubuntu specific and related to the
indicator patch indeed)

Could you also maybe open an upstream bug about the '...' against '…',
it seems like the sort of things that could go upstream and it still
applies to the current git version applet code

[Bug 914305] Re: [12.04] WARNING: gnome-keyring:: no socket to connect to

2012-02-01 Thread Brian Knoll
I just performed a full update of all packages on my 12.04 installation,
rebooted, and tried again:

-
# lpq
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: no socket to connect to
mfc is ready
no entries
-

So the warning is still there. This installation was a regular install
with the Gnome 2 desktop environment from Lucid, then I upgraded it to
12.04. I think now it has Gnome packages installed but it also has the
Unity environment. It is just a VM I set up for testing the next
release, so I don't ever log into the desktop, I just SSH into it, but
the desktop is there to pick up compatibility issues that might arise,
so I can report bugs.

[Bug 924793] [NEW] GTK3 file dialogs in Kubuntu using left-handed mouse

2012-02-01 Thread JungleEditor
Public bug reported:

This is a bug report following on from discussion here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1863325

To summarize.

In KDE with left-handed mouse button enabled...
left-button-click signal doesn't get passed on to any Gtk3 apps running in
KDE.

Gedit example:

So, for example: Run gedit under kubuntu, CTRL+O to open file open dialog.
Clicking on directory tree, or files 'does not work'.
Keyboard shortcuts then need to be used to navigate, select.

The problem started on ubuntu/kubuntu 11.10.
Have now upgraded to KDE 4.8 (to see if issue is solved), but problem still
persists.

The application functions normally with right-handed mouse.

2012-02-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

the buttons in Nautilus' path bar have become rather ugly recenty

[Bug 911634] Re: gedit crashses while editing plugins

2012-02-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 906103] Re: crashes without saving when 'save-as' dialogue used

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 914102] Re: Suggestion: do not set gconf env vars to non-existing files

2012-02-01 Thread Didier Roche
hey IsoLinearCHiP,
In fact, if you set a non existing conffile to gconf, this one will just check
if it exists and ignore it if not. This is done only one on the server side and
so, it's a fast operation.

In addition, it's better to do that at that stage for bootime speed (as
the check will be done later, the first time gconf is invoked and not at
each time you log in, and every other processes waiting on the check to
appear). Also, you probably already know that gconf is going away quite
soon, so I think this is not something we should really work on.

So, in a summary, technically this is a good idea, but in practice, I
think we unfortunately shouldn't change that, for speed and
effectiveness issue.

Thanks a lot for working on that though and do not hesitate to submit
other ideas to ubuntu! :)

[Bug 908718] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV

2012-02-01 Thread Daniel Winzen
Yes, it happens every time I try to open that file or files with the same size.
I have to stop gedit manual with gnome-system-monitor after it crashed.
I don't know how to use gdb, so I can't get a stacktrace.

[Bug 924473] Re: Pre-existing empathy gtalk account clashes with the online-accounts one

2012-02-01 Thread Dario Bertini
** Description changed:

+ This is probably a UX bug for everyone who's upgrading and keeping its
+ old empathy configuration
+
+ Basically: if you have configured a gtalk account, and you try the new
+ online-accounts settings in the gnome-control-center, as per bug
+ lp:855917 in Oneiric you won't notice anything
+
+ in Precise that bug has been apparently fixed, thus empathy
+ automatically creates a new gtalk account
+
+ There are many things to be done to clear this bug (not all of them at
+ the same time):
+
+ - modify online-accounts to check if there's another one already configured
inside of empathy (probably not a good idea: it's empathy's duty to behave
well) or at least warn of the possibility
+ - modify empathy to stop using the settings from online-accounts (if the
related account has been removed from inside empathy and if they haven't been
modified in gnome-control-center since)
+ - modify empathy to propose to merge the two (or delete one of the two)
+ - modify empathy to display with a label, or something, that this account
hasn't actually been configured inside of empathy
+
+ Here is the old description:
+
+ --
+
Empathy creates a second gtalk account, identical to the first one...
when launching empathy it fails to connect with the bogus account, and
  thus displays an error

after removing this account and logging off and on again, it appears
again (but not more than one time: it doesn't cumulate between logins,
it'll just create a single copy of the normal gtalk account)

this doesn't happen with the other (facebook, bonjour, msn) accounts
  that I've configured

[Bug 923237] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in nautilus_icon_canvas_item_get_drag_surface()

2012-02-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
