Laszlo, I re-enabled 3d Unity on my system to test whether recent
patches might have fixed the gpu problems I was having. For now 3D Unity
seems to be working again. I do not know why but your brightness
settings script worked fine in the 3D mode and my Toshiba L300D now
remembers the settings.
Installing RhythmBox 2.97 from 12.10 distribution got it fixed for me ;)

In the meantime -- I looked at a slightly different way of fixing this.
Padding between widgets in the header looked a little unusual to me
anyway; so I added 5 pixels on top and bottom; then pushed the result to
my PPA. If someone wants to try it and review whether it makes things
better or not:
Not sure why this was marked "Fix Committed" as it isn't. Also, the
attached patch isn't really a fix, but rather a small workaround. The
proper fix should be in GTK+.

disabling crontab with this chown+chmod commands seems to make the problem
disapear
(browsed many pictures and waited about an hour wthout any problem)

Tried to reinstall libtelepathy-logger2 and telepathy-logger -
not sure where it's coming from but it seems "not apport, not launchpad-
integration" ... having steps to trigger that dialog would help

I agree with Cedric. This freezes nautilus everytime I access folders
with pictures or videos in it. Most times only for a few seconds, but
when there are several video files in the folder nautilus can freeze for
minutes until it has produced a thumbnail for every single video.
At least an option

Opening the attached file using gedit 3.4.1 causes gedit to hang. The
file opens correclty using medit and LibreOffice Calc.
This file comes from a data logger that uses fixed length files, padding
the unused area at the end of the file with null characters.
