I also have a GeForce 8600 GT. I recently reverted to version 290.10 of
nvidia's binary driver because of Bug #973096 (random Xorg crashes.)
The reversion also seems to have solved my problems powering off the
system and changing to tty. It might be a coincidence, though.

I've been encountering this error too.
Running `rhythmbox -d` produces a fair bit of log output, but definitely
shows some suspicious goings on.
In the attached log I was listening to "Absolute Radio 90s". The track
ended at 22:27:11, and playback paused (sound stopped) for a couple of
seconds. A
I found a solution!
After backup the file, I edited the file "ubuntu-wallpapers.xml" and
deleted some wallpapers listed randomly. Now, every image deleted from
the list, is single in "Appearance" app. The others are still double!

1- Something grabs mouse: ie: virtual machine window, or GTK menu in an
application or an indicator
2- Screensaver attempts to start, but cannot get exclusive lock on mouse
3- DPMS turns monitor black
4- User moves mouse, which turns the screen back on

Shutdown using menu is working for me but using the terminal does not.

I just noticed today that the Global menu for Nautilus appears, but is
unavailable for Nautilus. When I click on it, a small rectangle appears
under the menu item, but I cannot access anything.
1) Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

That refers to bug #880240, which is not the bug reported by the
submitter. The 'halt' command does not do what people assume it does.
You need to call either 'shutdown -h now', or 'poweroff', or 'halt -p'.

Does it not seem like an euphemism to assign a "low" priority to this
bug? People of all nations upgrade and then cannot switch keyboard
language without opening a terminal? I would push for a "medium"
priority.

file is stored in .local/share/recently-used.xbel instead, vmware should
be using that file as well

This is a major annoyance. I'm fine with quick search being the default
for Ctrl+F. This is consistent with the way many other editors are
setup. However, pressing enter should cycle through each result in the
list of matches just like every other editor I've used. I keep entering

Thanks a lot for reporting this, however since gedit-plugins package is
not part of the default CD, this bug does not qualify as a papercut.
