I can reliably reproduce the behaviour (the steps are sufficient, but
not all may be necessary):
1. Grab a screenshot
2. Crop to a small part of the image
3. File-Save as... and save to a png with default settings
4. Ctrl-Z do undo crop
5. Crop to a different part of the image
6. File-Save as...
qt can link to openssl because its lgpl licence has an openssl
exception, and not because dlopening would make it not 'link' to
openssl. poppler has no such openssl exception; and even if it did, that
wouldn't help the programmes using poppler which are gpl (e.g. evince)
without such an exception.
So if I understood correctly Qt is only using the dlopen approach to overcome
restrictions to crypto exports but not (L)GPL incompatibilities, like stated
here:

Getting back to our point I'll need the definitive opinion from Poppler
maintainers on

What's missing in gnutls is a way to parse all the relevant components of the
PKCS#7 object as present in a PDF signature.
It seems that in gnutls they assume those objects can only contain
certificates
and CRLs as you can confirm if you go through the functions
Maintainer hat on: I think it'd be easier for all if you can use NSS
(now that gnutls has been ruled out because of lack of functionality).

By the way, I tried Shotwell today, looking for the Publish to Picasa

Jeremy, I had that problem because my Google account was set up as a
Jabber account. It has to be set up as a Google account to work.

added it but maybe that wasn't needed.
