I have the same problem with my E530. Also, if I adjust the brightness
through display settings, it does not remember them next time I boot.
It makes a significant difference to the battery life, so it would be
great to get it corrected :-)

David, thanks a lot for the guide. When I checked the file, though, line
824 was already without the ONLY. There were two other instances of
the same expression with the ONLY. Should I keep it like this and

are other problems like maximize, close and minimize button doesn't
work, but seems nobody interested in this gnome-panel desktop anymore...
I can't move to 13.04 in a working environment...

I kind of prefer Centos now as it seems more stable and long-term supported,
