[Bug 575877] Re: gnome-keyring mysteriously asks for keyring password on startup
This problem has arisen periodically for years. It has just arisen again on my computer. I've been running Xubuntu 13.04 since April. It just now started to ask me for a keyring password. It says (and apologies - I shall have to report the precise message at next startup) - it says something like 'keyring password not set at startup'. The keyring password request occurs apparenlty randomly. And when it comes it prevents user access to all other programs. Unless you shut down the computer, you have to give it your system password. I second Alroger: this is most offensive behaviour. I don't want to give my password out to any popup - especially one that is random, erroneous and unexplained. Every time it happens I feel like I'm being fleeced by some phishing scam. I suspect it may have something to do with the Ubuntu Software Centre. The keyring problem started happening after I accessed the Software Centre's user account recently. It asked for a keyring password. It came up again when subsequently I opened the Software Centre just to download some software. And now it has stuck around. The kering just pops up at random in a session. It's been a few days, at a guess. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575877 Title: gnome-keyring mysteriously asks for keyring password on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/575877/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1192956] [NEW] Ubuntu Printing defaults to mirrored printing
Public bug reported: ubuntu 13.04, cups installed, printer driver: HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Postscript (recommended) (color, 2-sided printing) Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=iso_a4_210x297mm sides=one-sided in CUPS the mirror image is disabled. yet: ever since one of the last system updates ubuntu printing defaults to mirrored printing (which is really annoying, of course). [Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)
If my configuration is already very wrong, I cannot fix it by calibrating via the GUI in Wacom Tablet. For example, try setting the area string in dconf to: [-9978, -6651, 6336, 4878] For me, the first calibration claims success but does not set the values to something reasonable. The string area reads after this calibration: [2814, 1669, 6824, 5319] Using the pen to click anywhere the cursor always moves to the bottom left corner. If I try to calibrate again I get a Misclick detected error and need to start over. Note that manually fixing the settings via the workaround as Josh suggests in post #5 and I further explain in #6 and then calibrating yields a working area for me: [54, 91, 26082, 16359] -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1163107 Title: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1163107/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
I started getting miserable performance after upgrading from 12.10 to 13.04. It's affecting any and all apps being served by gvfs: Nemo, Nautilus, mplayer, Firefox—anything at all that's accessing a remote filesystem. Again, tests with simply sftp-ing files around or using proper cifs mounts show dramatic speed increases. In this case, I'm getting ~500KiB/s with gvfs and ~80MIB/s without. The server I'm testing against was also recently upgraded (12.04 - 13.04 via 12.10), but I've confirmed that my scheduled rsyncs between the file server and the backup file server (also 13.04, slower hardware) can crack ~110MiB/s. The laptop I'm on only supports half-jumbo frames (MTU 4,078), whereas the primary and backup file servers are using full-size (MTU 9,000) frames, so I know why speed is capped at ≤ 80MiB/s in this case. Does anyone know how to mess with gvfs knobs, short of replacing binaries with scripts? Things like /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-fuse support ~60 cmdline parms that we could be experimenting with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1191585] Re: Crash when exporting photos to a directory
Remember that JPEG is compressed, and that in memory each pixel requires 24 bits (3 bytes). So, a 3000x3000 image is 25MB in RAM. Seventy of them is 1.7GB. In order to speed up the export, Shotwell uses background threads to parallelize the process, uone thread per CPU. I suspect that's the issue here -- too many export operations at once eating up a lot of RAM. I forgot to mention before, I've ticketed your problem here: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/7115 We'll leave this open ... it probably makes sense to reduce the number of background operations to keep memory usage reasonable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1191585 Title: Crash when exporting photos to a directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1191585/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
