When pressing keyboard shourtcut for switching keyboard layout, focus
temporary switches from active text input to something else, then
restores back when releasing keys used to switch. Maybe even active
window loses focus, but window frame does not shows this (window header

It seems that problem discussed in this bug report is wider.
In next six month 14.04 will be prepared and arrived. It's LTS. So users of
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS may want to update to it.
What they have now (in Ubuntu 12.04.3)?
They have very wide choose of available hotkeys for layout change.
@nrbrtx, I can absolutely agree with you. The freedom of choosing key
combinations for such essential tasks as switching keyboard layouts were there
for ages. I don't see the reason why they needed to break it.

Totally agree. Going to support idea with separate bugreports (after this bug

By the way, this bug is the most heated at the Saucy tracker now - 2620
currently (other bugs has about 750 and below), so it looks like a

Yesterday I updated from ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 using the software updater.
Now when I plug-in my external hdd it automounts again in seconds after I hit

I can confirm that killing and restarting daemons can give you problem
if you don't logout and login again... for example, restarting gnome-
shell sometime makes shutdown/reboot form the menu impossible.

Yes, that's an issue fixed upstream, however Ubuntu still uses an older
version, and probably won't get upgraded to the current stable release
in the next cycle either, so unless someone's willing to backport the
patch, this won't change.

@Robert: is the new version depending on a GTK newer than 3.8? If not we
might want to update this cycle...

Accepted gnome-settings-daemon into saucy-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
settings-daemon/3.8.5-0ubuntu11.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.
Please help us by testing

@Sebastian: Yes, System Monitor has been updated along with the other
applications to fit in the GNOME ecosystem with headerbars, which is a 3.10
feature, and requires gtk 3.10. I have been looking at what could be easily
backported, but system monitor has undergone some refactorings this
