[Bug 118936] Re: Alacarte does not recover deleted menu items

2013-12-24 Thread Josh Ventura
For those who have deleted things not realizing how permanent and global
this would be, you can revert everything by deleting
`~/.local/share/applications`. I know it's not ideal, but it's better
than screwing everything else up trying to fix it some other way.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-12-24 Thread Norbert
@zzecool
For lock screen we have separate bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1244548

I can't understand why GNOME developers does not hear us. If we speak about
problems related to layout switching - there are many affected users (730 here
and about 300 for other bugs).
I tried to write e-mail to gnome-usability mail list with no luck.
So I recently posted a note to Google+ about known problems of modern GNOME
products ( https://plus.google.com/104269028367132002623/posts/e8Xmn9fzDVw ).
Please leave a comment and/or share this message.

[Bug 888789] Re: evince doesn't render embedded font

2013-12-24 Thread Scott Kostyshak
I can reproduce this bug by trying to open the pdf failing.pdf (posted
earlier). Note that it appears fine to my eyes but the error messages to
STDERR and the apparmor entries in kern.log show that there is a
problem. It must be that the problem font is just not used in many parts
of this particular PDF.

In another document, I can see no text. I cannot upload it because of
private information.

Adding the line
/usr/local/texlive/2013/texmf-dist/fonts/** r,
to the
/usr/bin/evince
block solves the problem.

I can reproduce starting from a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 with the
following:
sudo apt-get install git
git clone https://github.com/scottkosty/install-tl-ubuntu
 cd install-tl-ubuntu
sudo ./install-tl-ubuntu
# restart computer
evince failing.pdf

Note that ./install-tl-ubuntu could take an hour or so to install. But I
just wanted to give a way to reproduce from a fresh install in case
someone looks here.

[Bug 1263987] [NEW] [mouse]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()

2013-12-24 Thread Jonathan
Public bug reported:

Inferring from the title, it seems that when I moved the mouse to some
position, the daemon crashed.

Side-effects: The theme reset back to some strange theme. Then it went
back to my theme. However, the unity panel somehow wasn't aware of it.
Tried restarting unity, yet it crashed altogether. Started unity, and
the unity panel finally was 'aware' of it and switched to the Radiance
theme. (fixed, yay!).

Now it was nautilus that didn't adjust the pathbar theme to Radiance.
Tried killing nautilus. Successfully killed, but I hit the X button in
the terminal (Oops!). Everything froze, so my last resort was the
console login (Ctrl+Alt+F1 for /dev/tty1). Finished killing the
terminal. Switched back to /dev/pts/3. Started nautilus. Problem worked
around.

This happened in ubuntu raring and saucy (13.04 and 13.10)

BTW this bug report was filed manually using information collected by
apport, though wasn't filed directly through apport as it kept
complaining that there was no internet connection (although I do).
