[Bug 1358190] [NEW] archive manager is not warning when corrupt tar opened

2014-08-18 Thread Allan Kelly
Public bug reported:

I have occasionally experienced instances when my backups using tar have
created a bad .tar file.

Archive Manager opens the archive file and the archive hierarchy is
partially displayed, but there is no warning that file is corrupt and
the displayed tree is corrupt/incomplete.

Listing archive with tar -t exits with error, and opening the archive
with an alternative manager (ark) also displays partial hierarchy, but
does display a message warning that the tar file is corrupt.

[Bug 1358216] [NEW] wants to access your location prompt uses app ID instead of name

2014-08-18 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r197

1. Launch the Camera app for the first time.

What you see: com.ubuntu.camera_camera_3.0.0.355 /
com.ubuntu.camera_camera_3.0.0.355 wants to access your current
location.

What you should see: Camera wants to access your location.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AccountPrivileges#Phone: When an app requests
access to one of these things and does not currently have it, Ubuntu
should display a prompt of the form '{app name} wants to access your

[Bug 1358220] [NEW] Text inside wants to access your location prompt bleeds outside the dialog

2014-08-18 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r197

1a. If bug 1358216 has not been fixed, launch the Camera app for the first time.
1b. If it has been fixed, launch for the first time an app with a long name
that asks for your location.

What you see: The text in the dialog bleeds outside the dialog.

What you should see: The text never gets closer to the dialog edges than
the buttons do.

[Bug 1295670] Re: Nautilus doesn't save items view

2014-08-18 Thread Rainer
Hi dilshak,

your tipp doesn't help. Setting the default list or Icon display for
Nautilus works and ist not the problem repoerted with this bug. The
problem is: for every induvidual folder we would like to have that
Nautilus is saving the display format. Befor 14.04 it was working in
this way. For an example: all my picture folders should bi displayed as
Icons, but my home folder should allways be in the list format.

Hope this clarify what the bug is!

[Bug 1358300] [NEW] Turning on Bluetooth While Music is Playing Causes the Phone to go Crazy

2014-08-18 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

steps:

1. Have a bluetooth headset paired with the phone
2. Disable bluetooth
3. reboot
4. Open the music player and start playing a song
5. Turn on the bluetooth headset
6. Pull down the indicator and turn on bluetooth

Observed:
The indicator freezes and the music stutters without proceeding
The only recourse seems to be to hard reboot the phone

Expected:
The music changes to start playing from the headset

[Bug 1318090] Re: Bluetooth will not pair with Lenovo Bluetooth Keyboard

2014-08-18 Thread cbsuh
I've succeeded pairing Lenovo KT1255 - Thinkpad compact bluetooth
keyboard with trackpoint.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1019287

I followed 'comment 3' since the method in 'comment 2' didn't work.
I realized that passcode in UI is wrong one, so you cannot authenticate with
that passcode. Use passcode from hcidump.

[Bug 1344386] Re: Do.exe crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

2014-08-18 Thread Barry Warsaw
By process of elimination (i.e. bisecting apt-get installs of all the
dist-upgrade upgrading packages), I've narrowed this down to the
following binary packages: libglib2.0-0 libglib2.0-bin libglib2.0-dev
all part of the glib2.0 source package, version 2.41.2-1. In all
likelihood it's the libglib2.0-0 (but harder to tell since all three
must be upgraded at the same time).

I've also confirmed that no change rebuilds of mono and gnome-do do
*not* fix the problem. Something deeper has changed in the latest
glib2.0 package to break gnome-do at least, and perhaps the entire mono
runtime.

Next I'll try to compare against Debian versions to see if anything out
of sync needs updating.

there's really no need for them and they just encourage code duplication
and hard to maintain systems.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

For the record, I had run into a similar issue where the duplex dropdown

out that I was missing enabling a Duplexer Installed option in the

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2014-08-18 Thread HaraldK
Tried the approach of thw-th (comment #46) and it kind of works. This is
an 8 year old Lenovo T500 laptop and I had to enter 6 seconds delay
before it started to work. A downside is that my selected desktop
background image is not set, or rather removed that way: it is set at
some time first, then monitors flash, and flicker like many brokens
settings are tried until finally presumably gnome-settings-daemon puts
some order onto it, but with a completely black desktop. When using the
settings UI to set the background, it looks like it should actually be
set. :-(

[Bug 1344386] Re: Do.exe crashed with SIGABRT in __GI_raise()

2014-08-18 Thread Barry Warsaw
This seems to be the best I can manage for a traceback. Note that I had
to manually hack /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/mono-sgen-gdb.py to be Python 3
compatible (will file a separate bug on that).

There are still some undefined symbols, but I can't suss out which
packages are missing, and apport does not seem to want to cooperate to
help me. Please let me know if there's more I information you want me
to extract. OTOH, it's completely reproducible on utopic. Install
gnome-do and then invoke that from the command line.
