In Xubuntu 14.04 I can still load the GTK3 theme, but not the GTK2
theme.

I am affected by this problem too, running Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit.
dirty files seem to cause this problem on 64 bit systems. I solved it

for many people, and as much as I would like to see this fixed, I

In this moment I have both an ext4 and a ntfs external hdds mounted and
running. reading from a cat /etc/mtab output none of them has the

In case people aren't aware, the workaround for this bug is to go to System
Settings - Appliation Appearance - GTK
And then change the GTK2 theme from 'oxygen-gtk' to something else.
