[Bug 1462267] [NEW] Desktop icon alignment `floor()`s instead of `round()`

2015-06-05 Thread Shahbaz Youssefi
Public bug reported:

When dragging to arrange icons on the desktop, there is an invisible
grid that the icons get snapped to. The x-axis has larger distance
between grid lines and this bug is more visible in that direction.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Take an icon
2. Drag a few pixels to left
3. Release icon

Expected behavior:

- You are more or less still in the same position, so the icon should go
back to where it was before dragging

Observed behavior:

- The icon jumps a long way to the left

You can recreate this with one pixel up as well, where the icon jumps
up, although not as dramatically as with the x-axis. The behavior is the
same regardless of the icon size.

I am reporting this as a bug, because it is highly annoying to move an
icon to more or less where you want, only to find it jumps back. I think
the correct behavior would be for the icon to snap to the closest grid
lines, rather than the one on its left/up.

2015-06-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1340687] Re: Please replace current alternate screen scroll patch with the new one, making this scroll permanent

2015-06-05 Thread Monsta
[Impact]

The current alternate scroll patch is flawed because the terminal apps
using GTK+2 version of VTE library should also be patched in order for
the alternate scroll to work. This means that mate-terminal, roxterm-
gtk2, lxterminal (and other terminal apps that aren't patched in all
Ubuntu releases) don't have the alternate scroll enabled.

The proposed new patch that's contained in the debdiffs makes alternate
scroll work always, so no patching will be required for any terminal
apps.

So, the old patch should be replaced with the new one in all current
stable releases of Ubuntu.

[Test Case]

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run mate-terminal or any other non-patched terminal app using GTK+2 version
of VTE library.
2. Run man apt-get (any other manpage will work too of course).
3. See that scrolling with mouse wheel doesn't work on the manpage.

[Regression Potential]

After almost a year of testing the patch in various stable releases of Ubuntu,
I found no regressions.
I consider the regression risk to be very low here.

[Bug 1427877] Re: Media, brightness and volume keys don't work with GNOME 3.15.90

2015-06-05 Thread Joe Barnett
I tried rebuilding gnome-settings-daemon from the ppa sources, but
deleted all the debian/patches files. then restarted gnome-settings-
daemon and gnome-shell, but still had the same problem with keyboard
shortcuts not working (and actually it didn't fix itself with a gsd
/gnome-shell restart until i reinstalled the ppa package directly). I
may not be doing things correctly though.

[Bug 296867]

2015-06-05 Thread G4JC
In regards to my previous comment. I discovered enable-otr is in
/src/connection.c, once you get the right branch...

git clone git://people.freedesktop.org/~smcv/telepathy-gabble
git checkout untested-otr

I also tried setting the default FALSE option to TRUE. Still OTR
doesn't work for me, perhaps empathy also needs to be patched (instead
of just gabble). However Xaivers empathy branch no longer runs properly
on my system due to changes in gtk, so I am unable to test the older
version.

So, that's as far as I made it.
