[Bug 1287341] Re: Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup
Still affects me on 14.04. As it is already said, there is no reliable way to assign a touch device to a certain display device. So I suggest a two phase design: 1) Check if there is information for making an automatic assignment in some database. If there are more then one equal device, use display output and USB port id for identification. 2) If none is found, select the by some simple heuristics. Then launch a (to be made) settings program, that displays a centered button the first screen PLEASE TOUCH HERE. If the button is pressed, the coordinates are checked against the center of all possible displays from 'xrandr' or gnome-display-settings information. If it matches, the assignment is stored to the local database. The procedure continues with the second screen, if there is a third one and so on. If for some reason the database gets outdated (eg the user exchanges screens) phase 2 will be entered autmatically as you see. The only caveat may be exchanging the output assignments of multiple equal display devices. For this case, the phase 2 program should be integrated into the system settings center, and easily be reached without proper touch operation (eg. launch via Unity by keyboard). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1287341 Title: Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1287341/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1467226] [NEW] Can't use national chars in directory names
Public bug reported: I would like to rename directory and use national chars inside it but it is not possible with nautilus. When I change name and try to put national char (e.g. polish char ń, created on keyboard using regular char n and right Alt) the rename input box disappear and directory search filter appear. This distract directory rename process and make use of national chars impossible. How to reproduce - setup Ubuntu language to English - setup Polish keyboard - open application Files (Nautilus) - select directory - press F2 (directory rename process), (directory name became editable) - press char n+Right Alt What should happen: it should put Polish char ń in directory name and don't interrupt rename process. [Bug 1466273] Re: gstreamer fails intermittently
I'm also seeing this on my Nexus 4. Except here, gstreamer hangs and makes the process unkillable. Here is a bit of trace from our code: thumbnailer-service: [06:53:02.902] timeout, state = 2 thumbnailer-service: [06:53:02.902] killing process 12806 thumbnailer-service: [06:53:02.902] calling waitpid for process 12806 thumbnailer-service: [06:53:31.900] waitpid for process 12806 returned This happens when a timer fires. If gstreamer doesn't complete within 10 seconds, we kill the process. (Each video thumbnail is extracted in a separate process, so we can recover from gstreamer crashes and hangs.) However, take a look at the time stamps. We sent a SIGKILL at 53.02 and immediately called waitpid(). But waitpid() does not return until 29 seconds later. This strongly suggests a kernel problem. (At least as far as I know, the only way for SIGKILL to not kill a process is if the process is asleep in the kernel at uninterruptible priority.) ** Changed in: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: High = Critical -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1466273 Title: gstreamer fails intermittently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thumbnailer/+bug/1466273/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
