It occurs with update to gdm3 3.24.1-0ubuntu0.1. Did not happen before,
downgrade to gdm3 3.24.0-0ubuntu2 solves the problem.
My session does auto-start. After the desktop is loaded I try to switch
to another user. The screen goes

anyways).

just be because libdrm on my machine reports "unknown" subpixel ordering
for my monitor. So greyscale is the correct fallback...

Turns out that gnome-software has explicitly disabled interactivity in
the packagekit plugins, this is why the debconf doesn't work:

. Your issue is probably with the 3.24.1 upgrade (LP: #1685500) and not

several s2ram's during the past days.

It's not possible anymore to switch users. It just shows a black screen when

Gnome Shell elements (power menu, launcher etc) are the wrong colour

I feel it's more important that we integrate well in the new desktop
