With no splah i have "started user manager for uid 121" and then it freeze
need to uncomment WaylandEnable=false in custom.conf to start ubuntu so
with xorg.

Regarding #2, I'd like to know how the pitch is derived so I can
compensate for it by not exposing modes that can take us outside of the

Some simple system monitoring:
cat /proc/`pidof totem`/io
reveals totem's biggest skip coincides with a disk _write_ of some sort.
That should be easy to track down but I'm just about out of time this
week.
