[Bug 1725620] Re: Tab not hidden in fullscreen mode
> I expect the tab bar to be hidden when only one tab is open. That's gnome-terminal's standard behavior anyway, and there's no officially documented way to change that. There's only a hidden setting to show the tab bar even when only a single tab is present. I don't think it would make sense for such hidden setting to apply to the non-fullscreen state only, and remove the tab bar on fullscreen (but only if a single tab is present, if more tabs are present then keep them; plus also keep the menu bar as per the docs). The doc says "If you have more than one Terminal tab open, the tab bar will be visible in the fullscreen mode" which is... yeah misleading for this particular case but mathematically speaking a correct sense. Anyway, it's a hidden, undocumented feature, and as such, I don't think it makes sense to talk about the documentation's correctness. A quite different thing that could perhaps make sense (as a feature request, not bug) is to always hide the menubar and tab bar in fullscreen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725620 Title: Tab not hidden in fullscreen mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1725620/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1725536] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 Dock doesn't respect the color choice of the Gnome Shell theme
You can change the dot colours with dconf. Look in org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock with "dconf Editor", specifically the custom-theme-dot-border-color and custom-theme-running- dots-color both set to #e95420 (orange). However, besides the dots it looks like we're stuck with orange in the window preview of the Dock (and also when alt-tabbing). [Bug 1725536] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 Dock doesn't respect the color choice of the Gnome Shell theme
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I performed a fresh install of Ubuntu 17.10 (wiped system partition) but kept my home partition and home folder from Ubuntu Unity 17.04. I've so far done minimal changes to my system besides from installing some apps. The Ubuntu 17.10 Dock uses orange dots to indicate what apps are open and with how many instances. But changing the Gnome Shell theme doesn't change this color even if the theme changes the color orange everywhere else in the shell. Take the highly popular Arc theme for instance (https://github.com/horst3180/arc-theme). Installing it will change the orange color that appears in the the alt+tab panel and the Gnome Overview. But the orange color will remain in the Dock, causing a slightly annoying inconsistency. I think the original Gnome Dash to Dock extension respects the Gnome Shell's choice of color (https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock/). Maybe it can be seen there from where the extension reads this crucial color code and then you can do the same in the Dock? *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1288655 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1288655 Both PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND might be relevant, they might change e.g. the window title (like PROMPT_COMMAND probably does), and changing the window title has a slim chance of triggering some bugs. You could experiment with setting PS1 to something very simple and also unsetting PROMPT_COMMAND at the same time. Different bash versions might behave differently. 4.3 was an "odd" (read: buggy) one in the sense that it didn't handle window resizes immediately, only when a key was pressed later. With current 4.4 the prompt is redrawn immediately upon a resize, but apparently PROMPT_COMMAND as well as $() substitutions in PS1 are not run again. Maybe in 4.2 it used to be different and maybe PROMPT_COMMAND was re- executed or something like this, I don't know. You could also experiment with running a "cat" or "sleep 1" or "vim" or something like these (so that bash doesn't have a word during the resize), or using zsh (let us know if that's what you're already using). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706008 Title: gnome-terminal window becomes one line shorter after every fullscreen/windowed cycle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1706008/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1714989] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() (dash-to-panel specific?)
Paul, you need to do that from another system via SSH or from tty3 (or any free one), although you still might not be able to go back to the tty when frozen... [Bug 1725814] [NEW] The Activities top left button reacts to a mouse-up instead of click
Public bug reported: Honestly I have no idea which package this is in and I could not identify it by following the wiki page for identifying packages. I had no luck with the ubuntu-bug command either. Feel free to migrate at your discretion. The Activities menu/button at the top left in the desktop menu(?) bar seems to listen to left-mouse-up instead of a full click with the mouse. If I want to e.g. select all my files on the desktop by click-and- dragging a selection box and then end the selection at the top left of the screen I will then also activate the Activities button if I release the mouse button over it. I expect most button-like UI controls to only trigger on complete mouse clicks: mouse down, mouse up. Pretty much the *only* exception to this expectation -- that I can think of -- is when a click is initiated on one menu item and finishes on a menu item that is its peer. --- Description:Ubuntu 17.10 Release:17.10 ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725814 Title: The Activities top left button reacts to a mouse-up instead of click To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop/+bug/1725814/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1725807] [NEW] CPU % sort direction (ascending/descending) indicator reversed
Public bug reported: When sorting on a column (in processes tab) I get the standard pyramid shape to indicate ascending/descending sorting, with ascending sort being a pyramid and descending being an upside down pyramid (through natural mapping -- the base of the pyramid is larger than its top). The cpu % column has the two confused. When showing an upside down pyramid the largest values should be at the top (which is how the other columns work, e.g. the ID column). [Bug 1725803] [NEW] Double-click to expand a super wide column (process name) ruins your day
Public bug reported: Google Chrome has long process names. By long I mean hundreds and hundreds of characters wide (see picture). Without knowing this I unsuspectingly double-clicked the process name column edge in the processes tab, and ended up with a column that stretched far, far to the right. The only way to get back to normal was to scroll to the far right and tediously grab the column and shrink it manually over and over until it got back to normal. Before doing that I tried double-clicking again to try and make it shrink to its smallest size -- that didn't work. I generally tend to expect the reverse operation to work when working with UI. Open-Close, Expand-Collapse, Show-Hide, etc. After doing that I -- unfortunately -- tried to disable the process name column in the column context menu (right click). That made everything worse. Another column took over the super wide column that previously held process names, and pretty much every other existing column seemingly disappeared from the table. After some head-scratching I figured out that all other columns had collapsed into zero width. I tried restarting the application -- didn't work; it had saved my column setup. Adjusting some column widths went from a simple task to becoming a real chore. Expectations: I expected to be able to collapse the column the same way I expanded it. I also expected all other columns to keep their own sizes when disabling/hiding a column. In hindsight I now also expect column expansion to have some kind of sanity check. Note: I was positive that I had included the scroll bars in the screenshots, but apparently they timed out and disappeared, so the pictures kind of fail to illustrate the extent of the column width. [Bug 1725792] [NEW] Word-wrap breaks in windows with small width
Public bug reported: When making a window as narrow as possible, I noticed that word-wrap stopped wrapping words before I was done shrinking the window (attached screenshots 1 and 2). By chance I stumbled upon the cause: I tried disabling the sidebar in settings, but accidentally disabled the status bar instead, and suddenly the word-wrap worked immediately: The status bar minimum width is clamping text area/word-wrap width to a larger value than the editor area's actual width. (screenshot 3) I expect the status bar to never interfere with, or cause, the need for horizontal scrolling -- especially when word-wrap exists for the sole purpose of removing horizontal scrolling. I expect the status bar to make due with whatever size it is given. --- (That I tried to find the sidebar settings in 1. the application menu, and 2. the settings panel before finally finding it in 3. an inconspicuous accessory menu in the window's title bar speaks loads about the current design, but is, of course, a separate issue that I don't know how to even begin to address) --- Description:Ubuntu 17.10 Release:17.10 gedit: Installed: 3.22.1-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.22.1-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.22.1-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Illustrating erroneous word wrap as well as its cause" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725792/+attachment/4983146/+files/word-wrap-problem-and-cause.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725792 Title: Word-wrap breaks in windows with small width To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1725792/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 608537] Re: Rhythmbox not support cue sheet for lossless audio disk image (external and embedded) and cue sheet for tracks
General: Not a Bug. It's a feature. Please Forward it to the Rhytmbox feature requests list with not "to be done never" priority. Details: Hi! I'm Ubuntu 17.10 user, Erlang developer, Russia I have cheap old (Intel Core i5) notebook with cheap 1TB HDD and have no mp3 files on it. Mp3 good for online audio streaming services only because of traffic consumption. My locally stored audio almost totally in flac+cue. Because I can listen mp3 online and if I want listen cool sound in my pretty expensive headphones I listen lossless e.g. flac+cue. Please fix it. BTW, this is not a bug. This is a feature needed by a lot people. Wrong priority. Not related to 2017(2018 soon) year. P.S. Can't press "affect" button because of issue tracker timeout error. P.P.S Hope, this message wouldn't be read by anybody in 2027. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/608537 Title: Rhythmbox not support cue sheet for lossless audio disk image (external and embedded) and cue sheet for tracks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gstreamer/+bug/608537/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
