Yes I imagine gnome-shell contains multiple different leaks. Each different leak will get a different upstream bug and a different fix. [Bug 1758647] Re: ubiquity doesn't preselect the right default keyboard layout
@Pjotr12345: Thanks for the lesson on Dutch keyboards. :) I can confirm that it's a regression compared to 16.04. On 16.04, if the selected language matches the time zone location, a reasonable guess is pre-set in the window for setting keyboard layout. So if I select Nederlands and pretend to live in Haag, the installer indeed suggests the us+intl layout. This behavior was broken in 17.10, and I have a feeling that it's related to the switch from unity-settings-daemon to gnome-settings- daemon. Compare: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-settings-daemon-team/unity-settings- daemon/trunk/view/head:/plugins/keyboard/gsd-keyboard-manager.c with: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-settings- daemon/blob/master/plugins/keyboard/gsd-keyboard-manager.c The fix of bug #1719938 resulted in this patch: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-settings- daemon/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/ubuntu_ibus_configs.patch which handles it for some locales which typically need input methods. But for all other locales it simply defaults to the basic English (US) layout. As already mentioned, this may make the live session for many (most?) languages disappointing. [Bug 1716409] Re: Unable to install flatpakref on Ubuntu artful
For those wondering: I should've realized this much earlier, the importance being 'Low' is not some sort of anti-Flatpak conspiracy, it's because the bug satisfies the criteria for Low importance as per: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance 'Bugs that affect unusual end-user configurations or uncommon hardware Bugs that affect a non-essential aspect and limited scope of the application Non-ideal default configuration' Though I think there's a case to make this higher importance: 'A bug that has a moderate impact on a core application' (Medium) 'Has a severe impact on a small portion of Ubuntu users (estimated)' (High) 'Renders essential features or functionality of the application or dependencies broken or ineffective' (High) - some would consider installing Flatpaks from their software center an 'essential feature', even if Flatpak and the plugin in question are in universe not main. Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 13.04 (raring) reached end-of-life on January 27, 2014. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in and change the bug status to Confirmed. Also I can't test this on Ubuntu 17.10 because it uses GNOME Settings rather than Unity Settings and doesn't seem to allow you to change the date/time format in that, only to set the timezone. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229303 Title: Regional settings (date format) is ignored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1229303/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
