Ok but then you'd need to add/address gnome-software, software-
properties-gtk, synaptic, gnome-disk-utility, ect. as any & all of them
will cause/experience the same issue, sans a segfault.
As soon as 1 app that calls a pkexec auth dialog is canceled then no other app
can use pkexec auth until g
The trigger may be in gnome-shell, but it would be poor engineering to
declare a crash in one process as fixed by modifying another.
So any proper fix should also include changes to gnome-control-center to
ensure crashing is impossible (even with a faulty gnome-shell).

Not sure why gnome-shell was removed as clearly that's were the issue is.
G-c-c may be the only apt actually crashing but this affects any apt that calls
a pkexec Auth dialog.
Easy examples are software & updates > change something, cancel the auth dialog

Sorry, I was wrong.
It seems the bug is in GTK's titlebar logic. For Xorg sessions that's
only used in "modern" apps with the thick headerbar. For Wayland
sessions, that's used in all apps.

Hello Guys!
I have the same problem in Ubuntu 16.04.4 x64. I'm using the white Xbox
One Controller. The light just start blinking and never paired the
controller.
Researching on forums i find a trick to solve the problem. But that just
works one time. After that the problem returns.
The trick is
gnome-calculator is seeded in bionic as a snap, so it's translations are
bundled in the snap. However, if you choose to install the deb or
upgraded from artful, it'll need the translations in the lang pack. I'm
guessing the template was deactivated when the snap was seeded.

Also tried putting `gtk-toolbar-style = GTK_TOOLBAR_BOTH` in
~/.gtkrc-2.0 and `[Settings]\ngtk-toolbar-style = GTK_TOOLBAR_BOTH` in
~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini. The latter causes the output of gtk-
query-settings to change, but neither of these settings causes GnuCash
to behave differently.

There was a misunderstanding there: I never suggested we should use xkb-
keymap instead (or at least, that's not the message I was trying to
convey).
The intent was to reduce delta by not removing so much code, when
console-setup merges are already difficult. I didn't foresee that some

Click on "Unlock" and cancel dialog without inputting a password.

Guys, i am not programmer, but i`m wander why gnome have so many memory
leaks? Most of them have been known for years and nobody cares till
Ubuntu LTS 18.04 release. Bad code, bad programming, or other reason?!

If I login and lock the desktop, everything looks fine on the lock-screen.

Title:
I just tried using the netboot iso and installed the Xubuntu Desktop
task. Once installation finished and rebooted, I have a pristine Xubuntu
desktop with no additional indicators.
dpkg -l listing attached.
I will try another mini iso without a selected desktop if possible.
