[Bug 1767454] Re: "Other Locations" does not automatically find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread David Spoelstra
Thanks for the explanation, but that feels like a real regression to me!
Just last week with 17.10 I was showing some people running Windows how
easy it was to browse and connect to Windows servers with Nautilus. Now,
with 18.04, they again have to jump through hoops and know cryptic smb
URLs to connect to them...

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread WinEunuchs2Unix
Like #3 I also have the Logitech K800 wireless keyboard.

- Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't open terminal must use Dash and select gnome-terminal
- Alt+PrintScreen doesn't open screen-shot must use Dash and select Screenshot
- Media keys don't work

Resorting to laptop's keyboard (Alienware 17 R3) Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't work
either.

Ubuntu 16.04 upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 (luckily in test environment).
Answered Y to half a dozen prompts to convert login.d, sane, network and
others to new configuration format. Only declined not to update
/etc/default/grub to new configuration format.

Signed in with Unity under Xorg.

[Bug 1764096] Re: Brasero can't burn DVD because of permissions issue

2018-04-28 Thread Bruce Arnold
I'm experiencing the same problem with Ubuntu 18.04 release.
I tried to disable the wodim plugin but the check box is checked and gray.
I tried setting the USID bit in
/usr/share/bash-completion/conpletions/wodin but the brasero crash still
occurred.
Tested on two different computers. Same symptoms.

I cannot replicate this in Bionic, at least if I understand the steps to
reproduce correctly. If this is still valid in Bionic, please re-write
the description with clear steps to reproduce. Ideally, this should be
something that could be recreated from a fresh install. Thanks!

[Bug 607999] Re: gsettings-data-convert crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2018-04-28 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Beyond that, I have not seen a bug likes this in many years. If you
could provide additional information on how it affects a currently
supported release, that would be most helpful.

[Bug 1692394] Re: Speaker volume overlay sometimes jitters left/right slightly when pressing volume keys

2018-04-28 Thread Daniel Rodriguez
I currently experience this issue on an up-to-date 18.04 install. I came
across this bug while googling for "gnome volume overlay wobble". It
also affects the other two overlays that I can use (screen brightness
and keyboard backlight.) I was able to record in in 60fps so as to make
it more evident. Just wanted to share my experience on the most updated
as possible Ubuntu.

[Bug 1767669] [NEW] Systemd-resolved cannot forget local DNS Domain name after leaving the network

2018-04-28 Thread Dmitry Lapshin
Public bug reported:

At my university, WiFi network setup sets a local DNS Domain name (in a
form of .). That's alright; but when I
come home with my laptop and resume it, the local DNS Domain name is
still set (checked via systemd-resovle --status), and because of that I
cannot open my university website: it's domain cannot be resoved on a
local DNS (of course it cannot be resolved, it's not in local network
anymore). Resolving manually on any other DNS server (via dig
@) works perfectly fine. Resolving
any non-local name works fine too. DNS resolver IP's are right.
Restarting systemd-resolved or-and NetworkManager does not fix the
issue, only the full reboot can help. That's pretty annoying.

I am running Ubuntu 17.10 (soon to be upgraded to 18.04). Have this
issue since installing 17.10, but wasn't able to find a clue until
today.

What should be happening: Well, after I leave the network, resolver
should forget local settings from that network, right?

What is happeing: it does not. Well, at least the resolver ip's are
right.

P.S. It might be a NetworkManager issue but the only thing that I find
that remembers local DNS is the systemd-resolved, feel free to change
package.

[Bug 1767650] [NEW] Screen rotates upside-down when laptop is not flat

2018-04-28 Thread wastrel
Public bug reported:

HP Elitebook Folio 9470m. This system is not a tablet or convertible,
and does not have a touchscreen.

If the laptop is sitting flat during boot, the display orientation is
normal.

If the laptop is not sitting flat during boot, or if it is moved out of
flat, the display rotates and the orientation it rotates to is inverted
upside-down.

This happens at the login screen as well as after login.

This laptop should really never have the screen rotate in the first
place, as it's not a tablet or convertible, but in the event that
rotation is happening it shouldn't be upside-down.

I have locked the rotation in gnome shell and in the login screen using the
rotation lock button in the respective system menus. It would be nice if there
was a system-wide setting & this didn't need to be done on a per-user basis.

This gsettings command will also lock the gnome-shell rotation:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchscreen
orientation-lock true

However the above key doesn't affect the login screen, which has its own
separate rotation button in its own version of the system menu.

[Bug 1767648] [NEW] Top bar and shell dialogs are not displayed properly when zoom is enabled

2018-04-28 Thread Pavarin Bhandtivej
Public bug reported:

When zoom is enabled, the top bar and some shell dialogs (wireless
network selection, shutdown dialog, etc.) are not displayed properly.
(See the attached screenshots.)

Steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Enable Zoom in Setting > Universal Access
2. (Optional) Set zoom factor to around 3 (or higher)
3. Look at the top bar. You will notice that all texts and icons are now gone.
If you move your cursor to the right of the top bar, and then click on the
status menu, you will see that only a portion of the menu is shown.
4. For the shell dialogs, go to the Settings app. In the Wifi section, choose
one of the secured network available. You will see that the password dialog is
not displayed in its entirety.

[Bug 1752140] Re: Gedit menu button disappear (17.10)

2018-04-28 Thread Giorgos Kapetanakis
I have tried switching theme/icon theme. Does not work. After some
googling though I came up with a workaround: Open GNOME Tweaks / Top Bar
and switch on/off the "Application Menu". This did the trick for me.

[Bug 1765356] Re: "Show Applications" button triggers too often on touchscreen

2018-04-28 Thread Aurélien
I also encounter the same problem.
>From my point of view it seems that when I press the touch screen it generates
>two simple clicks. That's why when I click the "Show application" it opens and
>immediately close the application list. Moreover when I click on another
>application shortcut it opens the application twice.

Under ubuntu 17 I had this bug only with xorg not xwayland. Since I
upgraded to 18.04 I encounter the problem in both xorg and xwayland.

When I check the events generated when I quickly press the screen
libinput-debug-events returns only: "TOUCH_DOWN, TOUCH_FRAME, TOUCH_UP,
TOUCH_FRAME" events which seems to be normal.

Thus I guess that the bug might comes from the Gnome framework.

My laptop is a 2-in-1 ASUS T304UA.

[Bug 1767454] Re: "Other Locations" does not automatically find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread tony
Nautilus is now using protocol SMB3_11 in Ubuntu 18.04 and that breaks
browsing shares.

you could always choose "other locations/connect to server" and bookmark
the location and use a more secure protocol.

you could also install "smbclient" and edit "/etc/samba/samba.conf" in
the [global] section section add "client max protocol = NT1"

once you logout and login you should now see your shares but you will be
using the NT1 protocol.

we will see if browsing shares gets fixed with SMB3 I guess?

[Bug 1767605] [NEW] gnome-session launch fail on first fail, second success, entry of password

2018-04-28 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Public bug reported:

18.04 upgraded from 17.10

If I fail to enter my password correctly on first attempt in GDM, the
following successful attempt fail to launch Gnome. I only obtain a grey
screen freeze.

* Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me an ugly graphic mashup.
* Hitting Alt+F1 return to GDM who complain about a “login fail” and ask
another time my password.
* Another successful password attempt finally launch Gnome correctly.
* Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me again an ugly graphic mashup.
* Hitting Alt+F2 return to my Gnome 3 session.
** I run `apport-bug gdm3` at this moment.

[Bug 1767606] [NEW] GDM do not start on freshly installed 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread Mauro Sassi
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of the final Ubuntu 18.04 the boot process hangs
after GDM call (the login screen does not appear). After a few tests I
realized that editing /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and removing the comment
before "WaylandEnable=false" make the booting working again (with the
wayland session option not available in GDM). I also tried using
lightdm. In this case the login screen appears and I can choose xorg or
wayland session from there. The latter (wayland) does not work and the
system hangs on a black screen. This is also weird as the wayland
session used to work flawlessly on the very same machine on 17.10. I
don't need the wayland session but just found weird that system cannot
start the login screen out-of-the-box and gdm does not automatically
fallback.
