[Bug 1728053] Re: Copy to USB is very slow
this is apparently also a problem in Bionic-Beaver. I started a file copy 7,633 files to a new USB stick (SSD to USB 3.1). The copy started out like I expected, at a displayed rate of about 345MB/s. By the time, it reached roughly 1/2 the copy began to slow and before long, it was down to about 34MB/s. This is after recovering from a very similar issue Friday (last). Where in, it slowed even further, down to 1.2MB/s. I did the research over the weekend, and found reports, very similar to this one, attributing the issues to the Nautilus FS. I also found that Ubuntu 18.04 chose to not update Nautilus, but rather stayed with a previous version. lsb_release -a gives No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1777240] Re: Pop-up window from panel indicator qbirthday too much to the left, not fully visible
Thank you, Daniel, for your helpful comments. As once every other week, the window opens with one click and mostly visible (just a bit too much to the right), I thought it is more related to the gnome-shell or any other component of the system as to the app itself. The app is always started with the start-up of the computer. Any other window so far is not displayed outside of the visible screen as far as I remember. Yes, I can move the window after pressing Alt+F7 with clicking on it and dragging it to the center. Your last question was the best! :) The window is indeed taller than the screen! I could reduce the list length (reduce the displayed birthdays in the preferences; why did I not try this before!?) so it would not be taller anymore and wow! the window is placed within the screen although to the far left but fully visible! Wonderful, this solves my problem I hope. But I wonder why the window is not shown when it is taller - this was never a problem in the past (e.g. Unity) and why there are rare times the window is shown mostly visible (although to the right). Maybe we will never know but I hope the reduction of the window height will be a permanent workaround! [Bug 1777378] Re: [nvidia] GDM no longer presents GUI login Ubuntu 18.04
I wonder if the kernel upgrade on 2018-06-13 broke your kernel command line, which would prevent the nvidia driver from working... Please add "nomodeset" to the lines: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" of /etc/default/grub and then run: sudo update-grub and reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1777378 Title: [nvidia] GDM no longer presents GUI login Ubuntu 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1777378/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
