[Bug 1872796] Re: gnome-shell animations are noticeably stuttery when the Ubuntu extensions are enabled

2020-05-09 Thread Manuj Chandra Sharma
Hi,

I don't know if this is going to help, but I was experience a similar
problem in Popos 20.04. In my case, the misbehaving app turned out to be
Mega from mega.nz which I use for cloud sync.

Their ubuntu 20.04 deb package causes noticeable stuttering. After
disabling the app the desktop becomes smooth again. After enabling it
again the computer becomes fast and smooth.

This problem did not exist in 19.10 using mega's deb for 19.10.

The stuttering happens across the board, in every activity randomly.

Thanks.

[Bug 1866194] Re: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all.

2020-05-09 Thread Fábio Lima
This also affects me!

Ubuntu Focal Fossa updated until right now;
Dell Inspiron 15 5590 Laptop;
Intel® Core™ i7-10510U CPU.

I just use a simple P2 headphone.
When plugged, audio doesn't sound out and mic doesn't capture in until I go to
Gnome Control Center > Sound and change to the other input device created
besides the default one.

[Bug 1876286] Re: Evolution reports "Error performing TLS handshake: Internal error in memory allocation."

2020-05-09 Thread Nicos Angelopoulos
Dear all,

I have had the same "...TLS handshake: Internal error in memory allocation"
with yahoo IMAP (and POP) on claws 3.17.5 (and some older version)
for the last 1-2 days, on 18.1 Mint and 19.3 Mint.

Many thanks to Vincent Vermeulen for narrowing down the libs.

I don't think this is due to some new additions
to Ubuntu libraries as I tried on 18.1, 18.3, 19 & 19.3 Mint
(as i was updating the system remotely).

I managed to resolve this by installing from sources
gnutls-3.6.13 and its dependencies nettle-3.6 and libunistring
9.9 (via apt get this one).

The issue seems to be either with nettle or gnutls.

I then set $PGK_CONFIG_PATH and $LD_LIBRARY_PATH and then re-compiled
claws-mail-3.17.5

Solved the imap problem for sure, haven't tested the POP protocol.

Regards,

NA

[Bug 1877795] [NEW] After failed attempt, can not type password for a few seconds

2020-05-09 Thread dano
Public bug reported:

On the login screen, after entering an incorrect password, the box
shakes and the error "Sorry, that didn't work please try again." is
displayed. In previous Ubuntu versions you could immediately begin
entering your password again. In 20.04 there is a delay of about 2-3
seconds before the password entry filled is auto selected. Eventually
the orange border appears and text input is filled. This process can be
quickened by clicking on the password field with the mouse pointer.

[Bug 1876286] Re: Evolution reports "Error performing TLS handshake: Internal error in memory allocation."

2020-05-09 Thread Vincent Vermeulen
Another mailclient, Claws-Mail, is reported to also be affected by the
POP3 TLS handshake failure for Yahoo mail managed email (AT, AOL,
BellSouth, Verizon) on Ubuntu 18.04 base.

This may be an issue with some system libraries used by both Evolution
and Claws-Mail and maybe whatever security tightening Yahoo mail did
recently.

A user of Evolution on Ubuntu 18.04 base reported to get Evolution to work
again after installing these packages from Ubuntu 20.04:
libffi7
libgnutls30
libhogweed5
libnettle7
libp11-kit0

Not narrowed down yet but above may hold clue as to which package in
Ubuntu 18.04 base is the cause.

[Bug 1877754] [NEW] GTKFileChooser: deselect highlighted directory

2020-05-09 Thread Matthias Dieter Wallnöfer
Public bug reported:

Open a random file save form (gedit, LibreOffice doesn't matter).

Sometimes the first entry in the file list gets highlighted
automatically which may be a folder (especially when it is not the first
time you save a file). So the user may click on another entry to change
the selection, but clicking on the background *does not cause* a
deselection to take place. In my opinion that would be an expected usage
pattern as it is the case on common other platforms.

Why is that important? Sometimes the user just needs to choose the
current working directory and not a particular folder/file (he doesn't
want to have the file stored in a subfolder). The only valid (and nasty)
workaround is to go one hierarchy upwards and then double-click the
directory folder. The folder gets opened and the user finally finds him
/her-self with no entry highlighted.

[Bug 1877748] [NEW] Fractional scaling does not work properly

2020-05-09 Thread Nazir Dautov
Public bug reported:

When I use 125% scaling, turning off fractional scaling does not work
properly - all interface elements look very small.

#define "normal scaling" "100% scaling in non-fractional (discrete)
mode"

1. Set normal scaling (100% non-fractional).
2. Turn fractional mode on.
3. Press 125% and confirm.
4. Turn off fractional mode.

Result: interface looks very small.

I use AMDGPU driver, Xorg mode, no major tweaks.

Problem still exists in Ubuntu 19.10 with an EWS account. I just don't

[Bug 1845801] Re: [nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail. Killing gnome-session-binary fixes it, or just not using automatic login.

2020-05-09 Thread Nicolas Damgaard Larsen
I can confirm this is still an issue. The odd part is, however, that I
did not have this issue on 19.10 with the nvidia drivers from the ppa.
Upgrading to 20.04 introduced this issue to me.

[Bug 1750146] Re: Xbox (One) Wireless Controller won't connect

2020-05-09 Thread Sami Pietila
I have the latest Ubuntu 20.04 and it also seems to have this bug. There
are workarounds, but I think it should work out of the box like it does
on Windows. It is weird to have this kind of bug as Xbox One controller
might just be the most popular controller and these kinds of issues
prevent people from gaming on Linux.

The log file is absolutely flooded with errors like:

during the sweeping phase of GC. This is most likely caused by not destroying a
