[Bug 1878166] Re: gnome-shell freezes randomly on nouveau and wayland

2020-05-24 Thread Martin Vysny
It was a different time, so maybe they're unrelated as you say.

Because the sound continues to play, I suspect that it's just the
graphics stack that freezes. To verify this assumption I've installed
openssh-server on the laptop; if the freeze occurs again, I'll ssh into
the machine and I may be able to gather useful debugging info.

Confirmed, happening to me as well in Ubuntu 20.04... I cannot
understand why you think the importance of this is "Low" or
"Wishlist"... It looks to me quite serious, the desktop is used every
day and most people are used to this functionality, which is uniform
across the system... but not in the desktop now.

It makes ubuntu look quite bad, really.

```
.include /etc/pulse/default.pa
unload-module module-suspend-on-idle
```
(From https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting)

Seems to have fixed it - maybe dialogues were waiting for pulse audio to
wake-up to play the alert sound.

My workaround is just that, a workaround that may help you fetch your
mail while it is being fixed.

The upstream ticket https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/-/issues/997 looks on
track so it can be fixed quickly.
The issue seem to have been with zero-length session tickets.

[Bug 1873040] Re: Source for deb apps is empty when they are also available as snap

2020-05-24 Thread AsciiWolf
The missing "Ubuntu" source name could indicate a problem with
gsettings-desktop-schemas, at least in my opinion (but I am not sure),
but can also be intended (I don't know Snap Store code changes that
much).

By the way, note that the URL and Format entries are also missing,
however when switching to the empty (deb) source and scrolling the page,
its source URL is correctly displayed at the details section of the
page.

[Bug 1874986] Re: App grid can't switch pages when using low resolutions such as 800x600

2020-05-24 Thread Marina
I'm also affected by this bug. Only to me it happens when I put my Dell
Laptop e7470 into the docking station. Attached to the docking station
are 2 monitors: Dell 21" @ 1920x1080 and a Dell 18" @ 1600x1200. The
applications menu does not scroll down when the 2nd Monitor is attached.
Confirmed that by unpluging it. As soon a it's plugged in, the menu
won't scroll and the bottom line is jittering. So it doesn't only happen
on low resolutions, or would you consider 1920x1080 and 1600x1200 to be
low?

[Bug 1880404] [NEW] graphic app list does not scroll/scrolls partly with touchpad

2020-05-24 Thread mc
Public bug reported:

I have just upgraded to 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa GNOME version 3.36.2 and
now experiencing some (minor) issues.

When entering the app list (through the graphic button on the edge of
the dock) and trying scrolling through my apps using the touchpad,
scrolling is either not working or works partly - i.e i'm being able to
move only between the first two pages. If moving to a different page by
clicking the dots to the right side (say page 3 or 4), scrolling is
locked.

Interestingly, scrolling works fine when using my mouse wheel, and
depending on what page i'm ending up in, trying to use touchpad
afterwards allows me to scroll through the 3 pages - the one i started
in, the previous one, the one after.

I'm certain my touchpad is not damaged, as it works as usual when
browsing the net with several browsers.

I used to have this problem as well back in 18.04:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1694373
and it seemed like the scrolling response improved majorly in the sense that
gradual scrolling is now possible, making the experience more fluid than it
used to be.

2020-05-24 Thread James Cuzella
I was able to find that this was documented upstream in patch for Gnome
bug #572651

Source: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=572651

I've applied the patch, fixed the failing patch hunks and created a
merge request (GitLab's version of pull request) here:

[Bug 1878166] Re: gnome-shell freezes randomly on nouveau and wayland

2020-05-24 Thread Martin Vysny
Thank you so much. I was not yet able to investigate the crash (it
usually happens during a video call and then I quickly need to reboot,
to continue chatting with the customer - no time to diagnose :-D )

However, today I found out something in the log that might be connected
(even though in this case nothing crashed, the computer seems to be
continuing just fine):

[Bug 1880366] [NEW] [nvidia] Corrupted wallpaper after resuming from suspend or hibernation

2020-05-24 Thread Gianni Mariani
Public bug reported:

This bug is just like #1809407 but that bug is closed.

Simple to repro - suspend and then on restore from suspend the

I tried one fix that someone suggested in bug #1809407 but that didn't
seem to work at all.
