[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-08-01 Thread Willy Nolan
Hi,
I can't use fractional scaling at all. When I enable it from the Settings in
Gnome it just loads for a while (flickering black screen) and then reverts to
Single Display. Switching back to Join Displays does nothing and I have to
unplug and plug the external monitor back in.

I am using "Nvidia Driver metapackage nvidia-driver-450" and "Ubuntu 20.04.1
LTS"
I have a RTX 2080

I am using a laptop with a 4K monitor and an external 4K monitor that is
larger, so obviously I'd love to set different fractional scaling values
per monitor but would settle for setting 150% for both.

This seems like a common use case. Please let me know how I can help.

[Bug 1889998] [NEW] Toggling wifi power-management also toggles wifi connection

2020-08-01 Thread Samee
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce the bug:
  * Open control center
  * Go to "Power" section on the left sidebar.
  * Toggle this button: "Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi can be turned off to save power"

Expected behavior:
  * Wifi should no longer be turned off to save power.
  * Current wifi connection should stay on.

Observed behavior:
  * All wifi connections are immediately disabled, irrespective of how idle the
system is.

It looks like this button is toggling the wrong underlying setting.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1862081 ***

The other bug submission seems to be marked "fixed". I am still facing
this issue though, even with a later version of mutter than they
described as "patch" in the other thread. I added a gif to show
precisely what happens.

[Bug 1889975] [NEW] Xorg crash upon several conditions

2020-08-01 Thread Pierre
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release :

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

Version of package : gnome-control-center:

  Installed: 1:3.36.4-0ubuntu1

Packages

 1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5 500
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages

What happens:
=

1) My session crashes when I launch gnome-control-center or
unity-control-center.
In case it can help, the Xorg.log file reports 2 errors
[ 13421.807] (EE) open /dev/fb0: Permission denied
[ 13421.853] (EE) modeset(0): glamor initialization failed

2) Another strange stuff, is that another user cannot log anymore on this
Ubuntu box (3 users are defined, 2 manages to loggin, the 3rd one fails). When
the 3rd user logs, the screen goes black, and after a while you see the login
screen with the 3 usernames.
